D.C. United midfielder Paul Arriola departed U.S. Men’s National Team camp on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Mexico.

Arriola returns to D.C. United with a Wednesday clash against Minnesota United at Audi Field a crucial match in the club’s Eastern Conference playoff race.

The 23-year-old started and played 55 minutes in the USMNT’s 2-0 loss to Brazil on Friday at MetLife Stadium.

Arriola’s departure leaves the USMNT with 22 players in camp and only 20 will be dressed for Tuesday’s game in Nashville.

John Brooks and Sebastian Lletget previously left USMNT camp, with Brooks leaving on Saturday to go back to Wolfsburg and Lletget out due to injury.

  1. I do not get why he left Tijuana to go to DC. He should have stayed then went to Europe. He was even happy to be close to home at Tijaua. He seems like he has regressed I know it is against Brazil a major power butbhos ability to not pass good at all was just astonishing.

    • His passing has always been spotty. I believed he got married around the time of the transfer so I believe he said that was part of it. Finally, he got a much bigger payday in DC than he would have anywhere else, and with the new stadium and a new commitment to winning DC really sold him on doing something big. At the time of his signing, he made comments on wanting a steady spot, whereas in Mexico if your team loses a couple games the manager is out and you have to start over again.
