USMNT vs. Colombia: SBI Live Commentary

The U.S. Men’s National Team is back in action on Thursday night, kicking off its October slate in Tampa against Colombia.

It is the first meeting between the two counties since a pair of matches in the 2016 Copa America, and their 13th meeting overall. Dave Sarachan’s side will seek a strong start to its two-match schedule this month, with numerous exciting youth players in the squad. Timothy Weah and Bobby Wood are two forwards to keep an eye on against a tough Colombia backline.

Veterans Michael Bradley returns to the starting lineup and should provide leadership to the bunch. DeAndre Yedlin and Matt Miazga are two of the headliners in the backline, while John Brooks and Antonee Robinson also seek time.

The SBI editorial staff will be providing commentary on tonight’s match in the comments section. Feel free to join the conversation, and share your own thoughts and opinions below.

Enjoy the match!

  1. FT: USMNT 2 – Colombia 4. Not a good day at the office for the USMNT backline who was caught out several times by the dangerous Colombian attack. Falcao with the winner and James played a big part as well. USMNT in action on Oct. 16th in Hartford, Conn. Thanks for joining us!

  2. I want to like Robinson, I really do, but he got torched too many times on that left side. A little bit like Yedlin 2-3 years ago, except that Yedlin had the speed to cover his poor positioning.

      • No one is blaming Bradley for the loss (although there was some poor defending at times and too many back passes). We’re just frustrated that those minutes were wasted on him. What was the point of him playing the full game?

      • And who should we have played with all the injuries? Its just as inefficient to play some 3rd rate player center mid just because people don’t like Bradley. Bradley played very well in the first half intercepting passes and cleaning up (not perfect), which freed up Acosta to move forward.

  4. 91′ sargent down the side tries to lay back and set up an inrushing picault crashing into the area, shot goes high BUT I LIKE IT more like this, pls!
