DaMarcus Beasley will be back in the Orange and Black of the Houston Dynamo in 2019.
The 36-year-old was re-signed by the Dynamo on Sunday, continuing a decorated career for the former U.S. Men’s National Team defender. Beasley has made 112 appearances with the team since joining in 2014, and recently captained them to the 2018 U.S. Open Cup title.
“We are extremely pleased to announce that DaMarcus will be returning to the Houston Dynamo for the 2019 season,” said Dynamo Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Jordan. “He is a key leader in our team, and a true professional in every sense of the word. His winning mentality and quality as a player will be important for our group as we prepare for the 2019 season.”
Beasley’s 19-year professional career has seen stops with PSV, Rangers, Puebla, Manchester City, and the Chicago Fire. He has also won 127 caps with the USMNT while representing them at four World Cups.
2018 saw Beasley make 26 appearances, while scoring one goal and recording two assists during the regular season. His performance earned him club Defender of the Year honors.

His consistency over his career shows not only his talent, but also his professionalism and dedication.”
I was kinda hoping he might do a season with Indy Eleven.

Beasley’s quickness was a weapon Donavon learned to use to the team’s advantage when they were mere 16 year-olds. I think Donavon would not have been quite as effective for the USMNT without the ever-present Beasley on the receiving end of passes.

On a personal note, DaMarcus is the only player whose signature is missing from the soccer ball I had signed by the USMNT at their training camp in Princeton before the 2010 World Cup. Somehow he got past me.

The ball was supposed to be gift to an old guy (over 85) who still showed up to play in pickup games at lunch time from time-to-time. When I told Tim Howard about it, I mentioned that we did have special rules when Miguel was in goal, like no really hard shots from close range; Tim said he wished he could play with that rule.

Sadly Miguel passed away before I could give him the ball.
Its time that these guys : Rimaldo, Berckerman, Marshall, Beasley etc, etc. make room for the new guys, they’re too old or force the teams to send them to retirement.

I disagree. MLS coaches in 2018 are under so much competitions and are no fools. If these veterans are not good enough to contribute to the team, they will be released in no time.
