QOTD: Which USMNT newcomer are you most interested in seeing?

Gregg Berhalter’s first U.S. national team squad features a dozen uncapped players, some which came as a surprise, and others which seemed inevitable after outstanding seasons.

There were names that surely weren’t expected, like Djorje Mihailovic and Daniel Lovitz, and some others that seemed to be long overdue, like Russell Canouse and Christian Ramirez. Then you have others, like Nick Lima and Justen Glad, who are promising young talents that figured to get their chance eventually.

With the January camp fast approaching, SBI wants to know which of the 12 uncapped players being called in are you must excited to see play in the upcoming friendlies against Panama and Costa Rica?

  1. Honestly I’m more interested in Berhalter and his coaching staff than I am any of the MLS players called up for this camp. I want to see what formation(s) he deploys, can he get the most out of the skill-sets of the players he calls up.
If I have to chose one of the above players…I’d have to go with Canouse. He’s a more of a true 6 who’s skill-set translates better to the International game than Trapp’s does.

Looking forward to when Berhalter has the ability to call in anyone he wants. I want to get an idea of what types of players he prefers and how he uses them.

  2. I went with Ebobisse just because forwards are generally more exciting than DM. I watched Canouse quite a bit and felt he played a pretty underappreciated role in DCUs turnaround. I do think there is a place for him even if Adams and McKinnie are available as he is much more a true 6 than the other two.

  3. I went with Canouse because I’ve seen him play enough to want to see him get a chance with the US. Despite him playing in what everyone says is our deepest position, the fact is the USMNT midfield has been getting outplayed ever since Jermaine Jones left. I honestly don’t know much about so many of these names. I’ll just sit back and see what they look like when whoever Berhalter picks takes the field.

  4. Not trying to be hard on any of these guys but do any of them have a legitimate shot of at significant playing time when the non MLS players get called in. I like Canouse but he has a battle with Adams and Mckinnie in front of him.
