Report: Chelsea pushing for January transfer for Pulisic

Christian Pulisic is no stranger to transfer rumors, but reports indicate he has a very large and very serious suitor lining up for his services.

The Evening Standard is reporting that the U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder is the target of an official offer by Chelsea in the English Premier League.

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly asking or £70 million for him and Chelsea’s offer is supposedly below that price. The London club is hoping to buy him during the January transfer window.

Pulisic has a year and a half left on his deal at Dortmund and has not discussed the possibility of an extension. He has been with the club since he was 16-years-old. He made his first team debut in January 2016 and his role at the club has grown stronger ever since. He has ten goals in 76 total appearances so far.

Liverpool, which is managed by Pulisic’s former coach Jurgen Klopp, has also been linked to the USMNT star, and he’s been said to prefer the Reds as a destination should they also be interested.

  1. It would be incredible if he can stay until Summer and Dortmund wins the league. Has an American won a European league in a top league yet? Leave in the summer and secure a deal before the Gold Cup just in case you get injured (knock on wood)

  2. So great to finally have an American who is pursued by the big boys. I’ve always said that he should stay with Dortmund, but with Sancho getting so much playing time now, maybe the time is right for a move. It just needs to be a situation where he ends up playing more, not less. And on the other hand, Dortmund looks good enough to win the Bundesliga and make a serious run at the CL. Even if CP just starts every other game, being a part of that would be pretty amazing too.

    • I would very much like him to stay until the summer. It seems a given that he will leave at that point since he doesn’t seem interested in re-signing with Dortmund, but being part of the title challenge would be a great experience for him.
True, he is being outplayed by the other two young wingers at the moment, but there are a lot of games left to be played. He will get his chance to break back into the first 11 at some point. Up to him to make an impact when the chance comes.

  3. There are so many cons to Pulisic joining Chelsea but there is one very compelling pro: playing alongside (and learning from) Eden Hazard.

  4. I’d rather see him stay at Dortmund. They are title contenders and a regular presence in the Champions League. There’s still much more he can learn in Germany.
