Adams, RB Leipzig fall to Bayern in German Cup Final

Tyler Adams’ domestic season ended on a sour note on Saturday.

Adams and RB Leipzig were shutout 3-0 by Bayern Munich in the German Cup Final in Berlin. The win gave Bayern a domestic double after clinching the Bundesliga title last weekend.

Bayern led 1-0 at halftime thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s 29th minute opening goal.

Adams was taken off after 65 minute with his team seeking an equalizer. However, Kingsley Coman would add to Bayern’s lead in the 78th minute before Lewandowski scored his second of the day seven minutes later.

Adams finished the match with three successful tackles, five won duels, and one clearance. He also completed 22 of his 34 passes on the day, but did not record a shot on goal.

Leipzig was outshot 10-to-4 by Bayern, who claimed another domestic trophy.

Up next for Adams is involvement with the U.S. Men’s National Team for the upcoming Concacaf Gold Cup in June.

  1. At least his club seems to be taking care of him and watching his minutes, trying to keep him in good shape. Now that the US is without Brooks and Yedlin, hopefully the USMNT will also try to take care of Adams, Pulisic, and McKennie, and nothing too bad will happen in the rough-and-tumble of CONCACAF play on tougher surfaces. Knock wood.

Probably a lot of US fans would have liked to be able to actually watch the DFB Pokal final. Sad for soccer that ESPN filled up its two entire main channels with college softball, of all provincial things, instead.
