Weston McKennie, Zack Steffen and Jozy Altidore headline the U.S. Men’s National Team’s 28-man roster for Wednesday’s friendly against Jamaica.
USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter will make the final cuts to his squad before finalizing his Gold Cup roster after the Jamaica friendly, with star midfielders Christian Pulisic and Tyler Adams expected to join the team for the Gold Cup after the upcoming friendly.
“After a great week of training, we now enter the phase of playing competitive matches,” Berhalter said. “The game against Jamaica will represent an opportunity for us to evaluate new prospects as well continue to develop the group for the Gold Cup. We are excited about the group coming in and the opportunity ahead of us this summer.”
Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath wasn’t available for selection due to a finger injury he recently suffered, which looks like it will rule him out of the Gold Cup.
The USMNT begins its Gold Cup on June 18th in Minneapolis against Guyana before group stage matches against Trinidad & Tobago and Panama.

USMNT still haven’t learnt their lesson. Certain players that are regulars on this team were not OUTSTANDING in their younger / better years, let alone in their older / injury prone years. They were part of an era that we as US SOCCER are trying to forget (World Cup), which is a direct link to poor mental focus, motivation, discipline and concentration. As far as their current results, they are old, slow and are not lighting up their respective leagues IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. ?

Darlington Nagbe may not be the best central midfielder we have but he is the BEST MLS CENTRAL MIDFIELDER WE HAVE, and it is showing in ATL. Players in our striker pool are not scoring goals in a league like MLS, against inferior defensive backlines and formations…..what do we expect them to accomplish when it matters or when we absolutely need it or against better / stronger competition? ?

Mistakes are part of this beautiful game, I get that 100 percent but Learning from making mistakes, building on them and not duplicating them, is what success is all about. A weak CM on a team is like putting up a building with a weak supporting beam……no matter how strong and sturdy things are around it, in a split second, the structural integrity can be easily compromised (Klinsmann, Arena and now Berhalter will soon get it).

I know you’re looking to get rid of Tradley and I understand that. However, Remedi plays that role for ATL. So then you have to say is he a hybrid candidate? No. Then is he a better 8 than McKennie, I don’t think so? Is he better than CP or his back Lletget, at the 10 spot he hasn’t been. I’m still not convinced more guys won’t be brought in after the 5th since none of the Atl contingent was called in. Perhaps they are getting some much deserved rest after their early season schedule. Nagbe at this point in his career is probably a place holder rather than a solution so to use a place holder to replace a place holder isn’t moving the bar very far. Let’s not forget Nagbe was as culpable on both TNT goals as Omar, Villa, and Bradley. They both came right down his side. Be patient my friend Bradley’s watch is almost over but he can get us through a few more fights before one of the younger guys steps up.
Lletget subbed off in the 10th minute might be an opening for Nagbe after all.

Some guys left out, Baird, all three ATL players Nagbe, Robinson, and Guzan, Jonathan Lewis. These teams do have a Open Cup matches on the 11th but that seems an unlikely reason to leave them with their teams.

Bradley sat out Friday’s match with an injured hammy so there is hope.
