Former U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team midfielder Kyle Scott is remaining in England.
After being released by Chelsea earlier this summer, Scott has officially joined Newcastle United.
Scott, 21, made only one senior appearance for the Blues during his time in London, coming off the bench in a 4-0 FA Cup win over Hull City back in Feb. 2018.
“I’m really excited. Newcastle is a massive club with massive history, but for young kids there is an opportunity – you see that with (Sean) Longstaff and what he did last year, and it’s a good opportunity for me,” Scott said.
“Newcastle are in the Premier League, and a massive club. You look at the kind of players that have come through here and how much opportunity they have got, and I feel like at this place they do give it as long as you’re working hard and playing well.”
Scott joined Chelsea from Southampton and made his youth team debut back in 2013-14 as a U-16 player. He worked his way through the ranks, appearing for Chelsea’s U-16’s, U-19’s, U-21’s, and U-23’s before spending time at Dutch second-tier side Telstar earlier this past season.
His loan was ended mutually in January 2019 after Scott made 14 appearances and scored two goals for Telstar. Scott has appeared for the U.S. U-18’s and U-20’s and is also eligible to represent England, the Republic of Ireland, and Italy.
Scott had been linked with Newcastle United since May. He will aim to be a part of Steve Bruce’s side, but is expected to join the club’s U-23 side first.
I mean, it is Newcastle, not Scunthorpe, guys. Not a terrible spot for him. Hope he can prove himself.
It’s not all that uncommon for a player who hasn’t seen many minutes to start out with the reserves (U-23) upon transferring to a new club. This gives them an opportunity to get up to the fitness level, and learn the style of play in an environment that won’t effect the clubs standings.
That said if he is still with the reserves by the winter break, than we can start questioning his ability and possibly calling him a bust.

He is annoying and I am over him thinking at his age settling for for a youth u 23 side is okay. It is not! This man had a way better access to be just as good or better than Pulisic but he does not push himself. You have kids under 20 making 1st team debuts Vincius, De Ligt,and Dest.If Scott thinks being on a u23 side is okay, he should just retire. Why can’t he push himself and wake up. Pulisic is miles already better than him. I feel like this move will end in a bust. I am getting tired of him jumping to club to club and settling for playong for a youth side versus putting his tail in gear, putting in some extra work, and being good enough for the first team.

You are an idiot. Shut up, he does not even know I exist! He is not doing our national team any favors! He is settling for less! He better be grateful his privileged landed him with another EPL side, that will let him sit on the bench and collect a pay check putting in no work on the field. So shut up
Or, there is the possibility that he is just not talented enough to make it at a higher level, no matter how hard he tries. Only effort on his part and time will tell.
This guy Scott is not good enough, plain and simple.
