Americans Abroad Weekend Rewind: Weah, Alvarado, and more

Timothy Weah was one of many American players who made his league debut for a new club this weekend and it ended in winning fashion.

  1. Watched the QPR-Huddersfield game and Cameron is pretty much a DM at this point. Why not bring him back into the USMNT fold and drop Bradley/Trapp/Nagbe? Cameron better than all of those guys…

    • Nagbe hasn’t been in the team since the last time Cameron also played with the USMNT. Geoff’s attitude was a cancer and it clashed with other players from what ive heard, plus he’s like 33-34 and we need to get a bit younger. Nagbe however is only 28, and i think he can give more to the team over the long haul than Cameron. And with the WC 4 years away there is no benefit to bringing Geoff back in

  2. My September Roster
    GK: Steffen, Horvath, Johnson
Def: Lima, Cannon, Dest, Ream, Brooks, Long, Miazga, Zimmerman
Mid: Bradley, Yueill, McKennie, Pomykal, Pulisic, Nagbe
For: Altidore, Sargent, Boyd, Weah, Arriola, Sabbi
    If heathly: Holmes, Yedlin, Adams
Guys I think will be called: Roldan, Morris, Zardes
Need to do more in the next few weeks: Green, Wood, Acosta, Gyau

    • I think lima had his chance and lost it to cannon, think with Dest being able to play both outside back spots as he subbed on to play rb yesterday and has been LB recently gives him a good shot over Ream who hasn’t dressed. Robinson has started fairly well so I could see him called also. Emo getting mins for atl is another option I like.

      Reply
      • Ream went 90 minutes on Saturday against Blackburn. Robinson is definitely an option would definitely rather see him than Lovitz.

      • Yeah i don’t want to see either of Ream or Lovitz in those friendlies. It’s time to bleed more of the younger players since there are no competitive matches(unless you consider the NL competitive)in the immediate future. I definitely would like to see Dest and Robinson playing LB from here on out.

    • RonnieT I should have said it’s what I see as a realistic roster that we could see. I’m interested to see what GGG does with this roster I think the GC squad was set around Adams and Adams wasn’t available. Gregg’s Crew teams always had 2 FBs that could get forward and Trapp would drop between the CBs to make a 3 man back. In the GC and earlier friendlies he used the CBs and LB and pushed everyone else forward in a variety of ways. The other question is will youngsters like Pomykal and Dest be steered toward the U23s, I have no problem with that if it’s communicated to them

  3. CP was awful in that Chelsea vs Manchester United game He needs to shake the nerves. Kyle Martinto had me weak ho he said Lampard was experienced, no disrespect. Would love to see Frank Lamoard and Jyle Martino in a London Rngland 1v1 Pub brawl lol.

      • Awful? That’s harsh, he started strong, leaving Wan Bissaka in the dust with blistering pace but the game got away from Chelsea and became a route. It’s hard to make an impact under those circumstances. Cut the kid some slack.

      • Jay the truth hurts. His passes did not connect also he was tying to dribble past 3-4 players like he is C. Ronaldo or peak Barcelona Ronadiniho and got the ball taken. ummm hell no lol

  4. A decent start to the European season for the USMNT Yanks. Once Adams & Holmes are back to health and CCV & EPB settle into their new clubs things should look even better.
Keeper: Steffen went 120 with his new club.
Defenders: Miazga, Robinson, Ream & Alverado went 90.
Dest came off the Bench and played well.
Midfield: Pulisic, & Weah saw good minutes w/ their new clubs.
McKennie got a few minutes off the bench in the cup game.
Striker: Sargent got a nice run of minutes.

    Reyna opened his EU account.
Llanez got off to a hot start.
Cappis & Sabbi continue to do well in Denmark.

Anyone know why Yedlin didn’t dress? Is he still working back from his surgery?

  5. Horvath back on the bench after arrival of Mingolet?

Probably going to need a transfer away if they went out and bought an experienced player to replace him after he got back on the field last season.
