Pulisic registers first career Premier League assist

Christian Pulisic registered his first career point in the English Premier League.

In what was a thrilling start to Chelsea’s trip to Carrow Road, Pulisic got off the mark in a 3-2 win over Norwich City. The U.S. Men’s National Team playmaker linked up with Mason Mount for the third overall goal between the teams in the opening 25 minutes.

Pulisic laid off a quick pass for the onrushing Mount before the midfielder rifled a shot past Tim Krul. It was Mount’s first league goal of the season.

Teemu Pukki would level for Norwich before halftime, leveling the sides at 2-2.

Tammy Abraham’s second-half finish proved to be the winner as Chelsea handed Frank Lampard his first win as manager. Pulisic played 83 minutes in the win.

  1. Morales scored a consolation goal, he was Düsseldorf’s best player not named Steffen but that isn’t saying much. Certainly more athletic than Trapp, he’s not answer going forward in this cycle but he could hold a place until one of the younger guys is ready if need be. Without Steffen it would have been 6 or 7 to 1. He may have to pull a Tim Howard vs Belgium performance every week. McKennie played well in the 30 minutes I saw, Schalke still has no strikers, they look better than last year but they can’t score.

  2. Had a pretty good game. Still seems to be building his confidence up in the league. He is there with his dangerous runs and spots but playing too conservative in the final 3rd. More inclined to pass off than be fearless. Many of those passes were good ones, dont get me wrong but had a couple chances where i want to see him be selfish.

Just seems like he is holding back a gear.

Have noticed maturity in his game. Learning when its time to dribble vs. be efficient with the ball. Thats the subtle takeaway ive seen out of him compared to last year. Doesnt lose the ball a great deal.

Knock on wood, dont see Willian posing a starting threat right now.

    • Good summary and I think CP is looking like a solid EPL player.

I think CP was faulted in the opener for running into cul-de-sacs and being out of sync with his teammates. As a result, it looked to me that today he didn’t do anything flashy, but was solid when he had the ball and did not lose it. There were a couple times he was put into bad positions upon receiving the ball and he has able to pass it out to a teammate instead of trying to take the ball down the line and ultimately losing possession, He didn’t get any goals, but he certainly was involved in play

    • would add that when he dribbles a lot he gets fouled more, so moving the ball and moving off of it keep that in check better. he took some hard fouls in the other games so I agree that we’re seeing a maturity evolve in his game
