UEFA Champions League return headlines This Week’s Soccer on TV

There is plenty of soccer to enjoy on TV this week as the UEFA Champions League and Europa League begin their respective group stages.

Tuesday’s offerings include Borussia Dortmund’s home date with Barcelona and Napoli’s trip to Liverpool set the stage for star power to be on display Wednesday. Paris Saint Germain welcomes Real Madrid to the Parc Des Princes in the marquee matchup while Atlético Madrid will seek revenge against Juventus after the Italian side eliminated them in last year’s competition.

Though all MLS teams fell out of the competition, Wednesday’s Leagues Cup final between Liga MX sides Cruz Azul and Tigres UANL should be an interesting test with hardware on the line.

A trio of MLS matches also takes place this week with the Portland Timbers’ showdown with the New York Red Bulls the pick of the litter.

If you haven’t yet, be sure to sign up for ESPN+ and fuboTV for all your soccer streaming needs.

  1. Man you all screwed the game schedule up. Liverpool played Napoli yesterday on Tuesday and missed the game because you all here on SBI put the wrong schedule and put the game today! SMH!

  2. I hope you will not delete this comment when I ask, simply for information, what happened to the earlier article under the same title by Larry Henry, which had at least some of the games on UniMás and Galavisión? It was at least more clearly laid out to feature games that were actually available on networks or on cable, though it missed a few.
    .
Chelsea vs. Valencia is unfortunately not among any of them, and TNT does indeed have Napoli vs. Liverpool, which may prove to be the most competitive match. However, Dortmund vs. Barça is currently showing on UniMás. (0-0 nearing the half.)
    .
On UniMás and Galavisión there are also four UCL games tomorrow, and four Europa League games Thursday. (Not on Univisión, the main channel, but also on TUDN, the premium cable channel formerly known as Univisión Deportes Network.)
    .
I know I’m not the only soccer fan who would like to see SBI soccer at least accurately reflect, if not actively support, all networks that continue to broadcast big games over the air, making world-quality soccer available to more viewers in the US, especially young players and their families who may not be able to afford streaming or PPV. I thought at least this time Larry had made an effort to do that, only to see the article somehow disappear.
    .
It’s also disappointing to feature MLS matches when they’re not actually available on TV, though some of us may occasionally see selected teams on local stations.
    .
And what are these new blue circle thingies, in addition to the older WordPress symbols? I don’t see what they add.

  3. It’s definitely on TV in America, just not the game WE all want to see. How is it that an american star playing for a big club like Chelsea in the Champions League, not on tv???
