USMNT vs. Canada: The Pregame Tailgate

A month after a historic loss in Canada, the U.S. Men’s National Team is ready for some revenge, and ready to retake control of its Concacaf Nations League group.

The Americans face Canada in Orlando tonight (7;30 P.M., ESPN2) looking to avenge last month’s 2-0 loss in Toronto. Doing so won’t be easy against a Canadian side that only needs a draw to win the group.

Also makings things more difficult for the Americans is the absence of Christian Pulisic, who is out with a hip injury. The USMNT’s attacking hopes will rest in a cast that includes Jordan Morris, Weston McKennie and Sebastian Lletget.

  1. Are we actually watching the broadcast? Ream is the LB. GB is in love with Spain’s ‘07-‘10 squad, possession based, 3 CBs, play out of the back. Is this really hard to understand?!!

  2. Forward:zardes. Wings: Morris and Arriola. Midfield Mckinney Lletget Yueil. Defense: Ream brooks Long Dest.
Goalie: Guzan. This is the line up guys not a good one Zardes and Yueil shouldnt be starting. Also Cannon should be on here you have in theory 3 center backs. Morales would have been better instead you put an MLS kid who hasn’t played in more than a month and put in zardes who also hasn’t played in a month. Berhalters excuse so with Sargent he picked up an injury during training and morales was not 100% fit for the game. What a horrible coach.

  4. Looking forward to seeing Brooks back in action and perhaps new contributions from players like Morales and Lletget. Hopefully this time everyone will have at least as much energy and commitment as Davies and others for Canada. Berhalter here or there, the guys need to show each other and their fans that they can keep fighting, running, and creating chances, no matter what.

Also hoping that Marcelo Balboa can finally stop calling Brooks “Jonathan.” Here’s to turning over a new leaf. ? ?

  5. Beerholder will learn the hard way. This system is thrash and he needs to realize time is gold the system is also preventing him from picking the best players possible in our pool like Green, and Alvorado. I hope we play decent this game.

  6. In addition to a win (obvious), I would love to see a full 90 minutes of sustained effort in which we actually improve over the course of the game. Haven’t really seen this other than against a couple of minnows at the Gold Cup. Mostly we come out of the gate hard and after 10 minutes we go into a slow spiral of confusion and eventually fatigue. Let’s get after it today!
