Americans Abroad Weekend Rewind: Olosunde, Moore, and more

Rotherham United continued their climb to the top of the EFL League One table while Matthew Olosunde started once again for the Millers.

Olosunde started and played 90 minutes in Rotherham’s 3-1 road win over Oxford United on Saturday, once again starring in defense. In 21 duels, Olosunde won 14 of them at left back. He won all eight of his tackles that he attempted, won two aerial battles, and made seven recoveries. Saturday’s triumph put Rotherham in first place with 44 points through 25 matches. Riding a six-match unbeaten run in league play, Olosunde and the rest of Paul Warne’s side will next take on Bristol Rovers on Jan. 18th at home.

Elsewhere, Shaq Moore scored in Tenerife’s penalty shootout Copa Del Rey win, while Gio Reyna and Josh Sargent both scored in friendly play. Antonee Robinson, Geoff Cameron, and Tim Ream all played 90 minutes in EFL Championship action, Lynden Gooch registered an assist in Sunderland’s lopsided win, and Giles Phillips started but did not finish Wycombe’s 4-0 loss to the Stadium of Light.

  1. Did Sebastien Suacedo (formerly of RSL) officially declare for mexico? wondering why he isn’t listed…scored a nice goal for Pumas…hopefully he is still with the stars and stripes…

  2. According to Kyle Scott’s twitter (Kyle_Scott22) he had groin surgery on November 28th. Not sure when he’s expected back, but i’m assuming it’s going to be a while.

  3. Is Yarbrough looking for a new team, or what? He lost the starting job when they brought in Cota last year, and apparently Pozo has been the starter since at least Thanksgiving. And now he’s 30, but he’s only ever played for León? Not that I see him making it back to the USMNT, but just to tie up loose ends.

It’s still the stories behind the stats that could use a little reporting. Though SBI has gotten noticeably better the last few months at news from Europe, about injuries and so on; thanks for that.

  4. “Indiana Vassilev dressed but did not play”………18 years already making the starting 11 for a English premier Team!!!!! This is very very promising.

    Main position : Left Winger
Other position: Attacking Midfield, Right Winger

    • And they’re 14 points ahead on top of the table and, barring catastrophe, on their way back to the SPL. Good for both Powers and Harkes (and maybe others?).
