Hallescher FC desperately needed a league win in their fight for survival in the German 3. Liga and the club got just that on Tuesday.
Terrence Boyd scored his 11th league goal of the season as Hallescher defeated fourth place Waldhof Mannheim 3-0 at home. Boyd got the start for Hallescher and did not disappoint, scoring the second goal of the match. After being set up by Julian Guttau, Boyd made no mistake as he slotted down the middle of the goal to pad Hallescher’s lead.

The club would add a third goal later in the half to ensure the victory. Boyd and Hallescher sit 17th in the 20-team 3. Liga table, currently in the relegation zone on goal difference.
Up next is a trip to Meppen on June 12th in the first of seven final matches this league campaign.
Elsewhere, Chris Richards and Timmy Chandler both went 90 minutes in respective matches while Julian Green and Timothy Tillman had to settle for appearances off the bench. Kenny Saief continued to earn minutes for Polish side Lechia Gdansk. Malik Tillman also got the nod for Bayern II in a league win.

Timmy Chandler started and played 90 minutes in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Julian Green came off the bench and played 14 minutes in Greuther Furth’s 1-1 draw with Dynamo Dresden on Tuesday.
Timothy Tillman came off the bench and played 14 minutes for Greuther Furth.

Chris Richards started and played 90 minutes in Bayern Munich II’s 2-0 win over FSV Zwickau on Tuesday.
Terrence Boyd started, scored ONE goal, and played 82 minutes in Hallescher FC’s 3-0 win over Waldhof Mannheim on Tuesday.
Malik Tillman started and played 57 minutes for Bayern II.
McKinze Gaines came off the bench and played 45 minutes in Sonnenhof Grobaspach’s 0-0 draw with Preussen Munster on Wednesday.

Bring Chandler in
While Chandler might be too old for the next WC, I really think he should be considered for the qualifiers. He showed some real ball skills, often under pressure, today against Bayern. He started to make mistakes late in the game, undoubtedly due to fatigue, but he looked better than a lot of our younger players. While I know the young guys are the future, we don’t want to fool around with qualifying and if he has the desire he really should be given a look.(Note, I say give him a look, not hand him a starting job) He is playing high quality football right now.
While I’m not opposed to giving Chandler another chance there are still a few things I worry about with him.
1) In the past he’s had issues with the travel for US Matches.
2) He’s had some dreadful performances in hot & humid weather…which is common in CONCACAF.
3) Locker-room chemistry, is he gong to be an issue….sour the environment. This can often happen especially with older players when there is a lot of youth in the team….and they realize that their window is closing.

Regardless if its Chandler or Morris who starts opposite Pulisic, their days are numbered. They may be the bridge option until our younger players gain a little more experience, but Reyna, Weah, & Uli should all be pushing for real minutes with the US squad when international play resumes. And then there is Berhaulter’s guy…Arriola…when back from injury.
Arriola received his first cap under Klinsmann and had 3 caps, played 12 times under Arena (11 out of 14 non-friendlies), twice for Sarachen. So it’s not just Berhalter that valued Arriola. At least he’s done better under 3G 3g 3a in 16 caps, 2g 2a in 17 caps for the other three. He also featured for Tab Ramos and the U20s and Wilmer Cabrera for the U17.
There’s always been a lot of rumors about Chandler’s want to play for the US, if he’s interested in still playing he’s certainly deserving a look. I’m not sure where he plays. He’s not playing FB for Frankfurt, but the NT doesn’t use wide midfielders and he’s not really an attacking wing. If the choice is Lovitz or Chandler duh it’s Chandler but if it’s Morris or Chandler that’s harder.
Chandler was in our team for the Brazil WC. I didn’t hear any issues with him and the rest of the team. Those points shouldn’t be an issue. The question is, does he want to do the leg work for a chance at another WC?
I wonder what would have happened if Lederman would have joined an MLS academy after being forced out of Barca the first time? Same age as Pomykal, Ledezma, Aaronson totally different career trajectory.
Interesting question. Unfortunately for Ben, it seems he simply hasn’t physically developed all that much. Still very sleight of frame, and not especially fast either by most accounts. Hard to imagine how things would’ve changed at any other academy. For a player like that, Barcelona would really seem like the perfect place.
When a player is slightly built and not that fast, he has to play big. If not, his chances are very limited.
