Weston McKennie continued his impressive run of form with Juventus, earning another start and registering an assist in a 3-1 Serie A win over Genoa.

McKennie also completed 84% of his passes while winning four aerial battles and making five recoveries. The USMNT midfielder continued to hold down a starting spot in Andrea Pirlo’s midfield and delivered for the third match in a row after scoring goals in recent wins against Torino and Barcelona.

In Germany, Julian Green scored the opening goal in Greuther Furth’s 3-0 road win over Sandhausen, keeping Greuther Furth in the top two of the league standings. The American midfielder connected with a Marco Meyerhofer’s cross in the 30th minute and volleyed home his third goal of the new season. Furth would add two additional goals for a comfortable victory, while Green continued his strong campaign for the German club.

  1. Amazing to see that McKennie is now someone who goes around encouraging his teammates, like Dybala, in the opening photo. Dybala was MVP of Serie A last year, with 17 goals, now he’s getting encouragement from McKennie, after his first goal of the season, setup by Wes, of course.

    • Yes! These updates have me wondering about Lavelle though. She hasn’t been playing much for City. Anyone know why?

    • I appreciate it, as well. I’ve found it curious to see American players struggle to find their feet in the WSL. I’m not sure how much of it is down to coronavirus fitness lags, personal circumstance (e.g. Morgan’s return to fitness after taking maternal leave), and acclimatising to a new country and league relative to the rest of the world really catching up. Players like Heath and Mewis have more or less slotted right in, but Press, Lavelle, and especially Morgan have taken time to acclimate and haven’t yet shown their best form.

  2. I want to see Mueller in Scottish or German first transfer to happen this Jan or this Summer. Hope to see him on The Yanks Abroad list soon.

    • I don’t want to see any of our potential players in the Scottish League.
Only Celtic & Rangers are any good…so the league isn’t very competitive. With the way our player pool is evolving guys will need to be playing at a higher level than the Scottish League to be considered for the USMNT.

      • You have to start somewhere not all of our potential players are going to be given offers by top 4 league teams. That was why I said or German Bundesliga 1.

  3. – Sargent as a lone striker for Bremen continues to be starved for service. On those rare occasions he gets touches, he has shown good skill and distribution. Bremen is due for a fall without a roster upgrade in the midfield.
    – Tough luck with Ledezma. His first well-earned start for PSV, and is out for many months.
    – Good to see Weah starting to get regular minutes at Lille. Look for those minutes to tick up.
    – McKennie for me is US player of the year. He was arguably Schalke’s best player early in the year, and is now a vital midfield asset for Juventus.

  4. A. Robinson had an excellent game for Fulham vs. Liverpool. Not only did he put in some good crosses, he played excellent defense. I can’t recall Liverpool mounting a real threat down his side of the pitch. Most of Liverpool’s threatening play was either on the other flank or down the middle. Robinson pretty much stopped everythning in his area.

    • Yeah, but Liverpool are notoriously weak down their right flank. Today, it was two nobodies named *checks notes* Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

    • Per whoscored.com (awesome analysis site, if you haven’t heard of it yet), Robinson was actually the top rated player of the game for either side, and thats without even scoring.

    • The formation was a 3-4-3 today for Fulham. It was nice to see him have the freedom to bomb forward. As a winger in a 3 man back line, he looked comfortable. Don’t know what US team, he’ll be selected for, but he played well today!!

    • These are great experiences and developments for the young USMNT’s left back, Antonee Robinson going toe to toe against the likes of Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool, Riyad Mahrez & Raheem Sterling of City, Son Heung-min, Gareth Bale & Harry Kane of Tottenham, etc. week in and week out.

      • Antonee Robinson has not looked his best yet playing for the national team, but he’s definitely been looking quite well and consistent for Fulham in the Premier League. Kudos to AC Milan for spotting good potentials on Antonee Robinson.

As the USMNT’s fans, we gotta have more patience with the young players. Keep in mind even the more seasoned duo-national German American players such as Danny Williams and Alfredo Morales took a while to successfully blend in and perform efficiently for the national team.
