Patience has paid off for Manchester City, which now leads the English Premier League table after a shakier start than many fans could tolerate.
The trophy isn’t all the way out of Liverpool’s clutches yet, but the Reds have no margin for error after their recent surprising loss to Brighton..
Seven points behind the lead and sitting in fourth place heading into Sunday’s contest, Liverpool has watched City amass a nine-match winning streak in the league and is one of the few teams in England that can present a credible threat to slow down the runaway act.
In Qatar, the freshly-minted champions of the Copa Libertadores and CONCACAF Champions League, Palmeiras and Tigres, square off in the FIFA Club World Cup semifinals. The winner earns an opportunity to test themselves against Bayern Munich for the trophy.

So Pulisic has gone from starting to 60 minute sub to not making the bench today. Time to find a new team
I am frustrated by the move of the EPL from NBCSN to Peacock. It was very convenient for me, and having to join another streaming service is frustrating.
Has NBC reported that EPL viewing ratings were down? I wonder why management made that decision.
Not only that, but apparently they’re closing NBCSN altogether and keeping only a handful of games on USA, of all obscure channels. I would certainly imagine that ratings are already down, since they’ve done everything they can to drive fans away from their networks.
.
Hardly surprising that they couldn’t get enough viewership from using their premium ‘sports’ channel to broadcast endless sleazy CAR AUCTIONS (!), instead of soccer games from the top league in the world. It’s just pitiful to me that, especially in this pandemic season when more people were at home watching TV, they had the option to air so many more games and features, to show MORE actual high-quality sports likely to attract sports viewers, but in the end, chose not to.
.
Sadly, it is US soccer viewership and interest in the sport as a whole that will suffer, if NBC succeeds in killing off nearly all British soccer in the same way as ESPN has already killed off all German soccer and a lot of cup soccer. If the big tournaments come around and there are fewer soccer viewers left, I hope those network executives and marketing departments will take the blame.
.
The only thing that might have gotten their attention is for enough fans to just boycott, to refuse to give them cheap access to our personal data in return for feeding us cheap ads over faulty connections. It remains to be seen whether there are enough intelligent, adult fans to even notice that devil’s bargain.
.
I used to really enjoy soccer, but when the TV networks obviously don’t value me at all as a paying cable customer, it makes me much less likely to want to watch the few remaining games that they deign to broadcast, the crumbs they throw to us dogs. A slap in the face is a slap in the face.
.
I can only say that no one ever HAS to join a streaming service. We can just say no.
.
Hang on, I take it all back, for the short term at least. In reality, all the games on Saturday and Sunday do indeed seem to be set to air on NBCSN and NBC as usual, if my cable provider is to be believed. So let’s enjoy broadcast soccer while it lasts. 🙂
.
Maybe what we don’t have to do is believe the SBI TV schedule, even though it used to be so helpful.
.
Mea culpa – hopefully. NBCSN had a good compliment of games alll weekend. Thank you.
