Americans Abroad Midweek Preview: Marsch, Musah, and more

Leeds United dropped into the English Premier League relegation zone following its defeat to Arsenal on Sunday and now Jesse Marsch will have to prepare for a must-win match this week at Elland Road.

The Lilywhites welcome Chelsea to Elland Road on Thursday, needing three points to avoid any further drop in the league table. Marsch looked to have helped Leeds United turn itself around in recent weeks, but back-to-back losses to Manchester City and Arsenal have come at the worst time for the Yorkshire club. With only one point separating 16th place Everton and 18th place Leeds United, an upset win on home soil would do wonders for the hosts with two matches left to play.

Chelsea defeated Leeds United 3-2 in London back in December and know a season-sweep of Marsch’s squad would further pad its status for a top-four finish and a return to the UEFA Champions League next season. U.S. men’s national team star Christian Pulisic is coming off a strong performance on Saturday against Wolves and will aim to remain in Thomas Tuchel’s starting lineup this week.

In Spain, Yunus Musah and Valencia take on Real Betis in La Liga play.

In Denmark, Christian Cappis and Emmanuel Sabbi are both in league action for their respective club.

In Scotland, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Celtic can clinch the Premiership title with a win or draw at Dundee United. James Sands aims to make his second-consecutive start for Rangers at home against Ross County.
