Cameron Carter-Vickers came into his loan spell at Celtic aiming to lead the Scottish Premiership giants back to the league title and the American defender did just that with Wednesday’s draw officially sealing the deal for Ange Posteglocou’s side.
Carter-Vickers logged 90 minutes as Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title after a 1-1 draw at Dundee United. The Tottenham loanee has been a stalwart in Celtic’s backline throughout the season and was rewarded with the first league title of his career. The 24-year-old led all players with 109 completed passes and a 96% passing completion rate, while also winning three of five duels in defense. Wednesday marked Carter-Vickers’ 43rd appearance for Celtic across all competitions, which already was a new career-high for the U.S. men’s national team centerback. Carter-Vickers became the fifth USMNT player all-time to win the Premiership title, and the second to do so with Celtic after Tim Weah did in 2019.
Celtic will close its domestic schedule on Saturday in Glasgow against Motherwell with Carter-Vickers hoping for a call-up to the USMNT this summer.
In England, Christian Pulisic scored his sixth league goal of the season as Chelsea thumped Leeds United 3-0 at Elland Road. Meanwhile, the defeat for Jesse Marsch’s squad, keeps them in the relegation zone with two matches left to play.
In Netherlands, Luca De La Torre played 90 minutes, but Heracles lost 2-0 to Waalwijk away from home. Cole Bassett logged 45 minutes for the first time at Feyenoord, closing out a 1-0 road win over Go Ahead Eagles.
