Americans Abroad Midweek Preview: Pulisic, Cohen, and more

The Graham Potter-era begins for Chelsea in UEFA Champions League action this week with Christian Pulisic aiming to earn his first start under his new manager.

Pulisic and Chelsea return to competitive action following this weekend’s postponement of Premier League play. The U.S. men’s national team forward will be eager to impress his new boss as Chelsea hosts Red Bull Salzburg on Matchday 2 of the new UCL tournament. Pulisic played the final 15 minutes of Chelsea’s 1-0 loss at Dinamo Zagreb last week, as the Blues endured a humiliating road loss in Croatia. Pulisic only started one match under Thomas Tuchel this season, but now with Potter taking over on the sidelines, the 23-year-old will be hoping for new opportunities ahead of USMNT duty.

Elsewhere in Champions League action, Josh Cohen and Maccabi Haifa host PSG while Gio Reyna and Borussia Dortmund visit Manchester City.

In England, Josh Sargent and Norwich City host Bristol City in EFL Championship action. Zack Steffen is pushing to return to action for Middlesbrough while Ethan Horvath and Luton Town host Coventry City.
