Gio Reyna missed three of Borussia Dortmund’s matches following the September international break, but will be back available as the Bundesliga side aims to clinch a UEFA Champions League knockout round berth.
Reyna is available for Dortmund’s Matchday 4 home showdown vs. Sevilla, Dortmund manager Edin Terzic confirmed Monday. The 19-year-old attacker suffered a leg injury in the USMNT’s 0-0 draw with Saudi Arabia in September, which forced him to the sidelines over the past two weeks.
“Gio Reyna increased his load in training,” Terzic said in his pre-match press conference. “He missed the match against Bayern but will be an option against Sevilla.”
Reyna missed majority of the 2021-22 campaign for both Borussia Dortmund and the U.S. men’s national team due to consistent hamstring injuries, but earned consistent playing time in the early stages of the 2022-23 season. He assisted twice in a 3-0 Champions League group stage win over FC Kobenhaven on Sept. 6 and has overall made six appearances in all competitions.
Reyna missed Saturday’s 2-2 Der Klassiker draw vs. Bayern Munich, as well as a 3-2 loss to Cologne and a 4-1 road win over Sevilla. His return Tuesday would be a welcomed sight for Terzic’s squad with Marco Reus remaining sidelined through October.
Reyna has totaled 10 goals and 14 assists in 83 combined appearances for Dortmund since debuting for the first team in 2020. He has also scored four goals in 14 caps for the USMNT to date.
Borussia Dortmund will also face league-leaders Union Berlin on Sunday before upcoming matches against Hannover (DFB Pokal), Stuttgart, Manchester City (Champions League), and Eintracht Frankfurt later this month.

Got some minutes. Made Sevillas defense look silly a few times. Good to see our attacking players getting healthy and showing signs of exciting play.
Hopefully he will stay healthy.
