Tyler Adams made his return for Leeds United on Saturday and helped Jesse Marsch’s squad claim one important point at Newcastle United.
Adams logged 90 minutes from his midfield position at St. James Park in a goal-less draw against the Magpies. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder missed Leeds’ 3-1 loss to Manchester City on Wednesday due to suspension, but returned with a bang for the Lilywhites in sloppy conditions. Adams won seven of 10 duels, made two interceptions, and nine recoveries as Leeds United frustrated Eddie Howe’s men for most of the second half.
Leeds United ended the weekend in 14th place, three points clear of the relegation zone and with its first clean sheet since Oct. 2. Up next is a home showdown with West Ham United on Wednesday before an FA Cup trip to Cardiff City on Sunday.
Elsewhere in England, Duane Holmes scored one goal for Huddersfield in a 2-1 loss to Ethan Horvath and Luton Town. Antonee Robinson and Tim Ream both started in Fulham’s victory over Southampton.
In Spain, Yunus Musah started in Valencia’s 2-1 loss to Villarreal while Luca De La Torre came off the bench in Celta Vigo’s 1-1 draw with Sevilla.
