Konrad De La Fuente was reportedly set for a new loan opportunity in England, but it now looks like the American winger’s frustration in Greece will continue.
De La Fuente’s proposed loan move to English Football League Championship side Hull City did not meet the deadline prior to the closure of the January Transfer Window, HullLive reported Tuesday. The Marseille attacker was currently on loan with Greek side Olympiakos, but was set to leave Greece and make the move to Hull City for the remainder of the season.
De La Fuente has only five appearances for Olympiakos since arriving in Greece last August.
The 21-year-old moved to Marseille from Barcelona in 2021, scoring one goal and adding three assists in 23 combined appearances. However, De La Fuente struggled to retain his role with the club following a season-ending injury last spring.
The former Barcelona academy player has found it tough to get back into the U.S. men’s national team picture following his move to Marseille. De La Fuente has earned three caps for the USMNT while also being a former USMNT Under-20 player.
Olympiakos has six league matches left in its schedule, in additional to a two-legged Greek Cup semifinal tie against AEK Athens.
