Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Ream, Robinson face Chelsea, and more

Fulham has already gotten the better of London rivals Chelsea once in English Premier League action this season and the American duo of Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson will fight to help the Cottagers claim another important win away from home this weekend.

Fulham makes the short trip to Chelsea on Friday, kicking off the resumption of the league campaign. Ream has played every minute for Marco Silva’s squad this season, continuing to excel as a key veteran in the squad. The 35-year-old has helped Fulham to a current seventh-place spot in the league standings, two points clear of Chelsea in the top-ten.

Robinson has made 18 appearances in league play, blossoming into one of the top left backs in the league. The 25-year-old is reportedly on the radar of defending league champions Manchester City, but first will focus on helping Fulham finish in the top-half of the league standings. Fulham hasn’t defeated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in league action since 1979, but has everything it takes to pull another shock against the Blues this season.

In England, Josh Sargent and Norwich City host league-leaders Burnley in EFL Championship action. Chris Richards fights to make his third-consecutive start for Crystal Palace in a trip to Manchester United. Weston McKennie could make his Leeds United debut in a road match at Nottingham Forest.

In Italy, Sergino Dest and AC Milan visit rivals Inter Milan.

In Spain, Yunus Musah and Valencia visit Girona while Luca De La Torre and Celta Vigo face a trip to Real Betis.

In Germany, Gio Reyna and Borussia Dortmund host Freiburg. Kevin Paredes and Wolfsburg host Bayern Munich.

Elsewhere, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Celtic visit St. Johnstone. Sebastian Soto and Austria Klagenfurt fight to advance to the Austrian Cup semifinals. Johnny Cardoso and Internacional continue Gaucho play in Brazil. Mark McKenzie and Genk face a trip to Gent in Belgian Pro League play.

  1. Good weekend so far: Tillman, Reyna, Pefok, Trusty on the score sheet. Taylor Booth continues to impress at RW. Weah a Swiss Army knife playing LB today. Richards still playing well. Horvath, Steffen, Dike teams all in the Championship playoff spots. Scally with another 90 for Gladbach.

It will be interesting to see who is on the March roster for the USMNT. Looks likely Pulisic will still be out with injury.

You have Tillman, Paredes, Booth, and Reyna playing well at attacking positions and you still have Aaronson and Weah at the potential wing positions. Pepi, Dike, Wright, and Pefok have been scoring goals.

Mihailovich seems to have transitioned well to the Eredivisie.

Will Balogun accept a callup? Maybe just to train and see what the USMNT is like?

Who from MLS? The league will be about a month in at that FIFA window
