Roles have reversed. Now Steffen is playing every week while Turner gets an occasional cup game. Both Steffen and Horvath are having very good seasons. Turner may have to make the right decision and leave Arsenal this summer. He is to good to be a #2.
Yeah right? Turner can’t drag this out too long. Steffen has been getting results all year, but looked somewhat shaky- not altogether right- decisive, confident. He seems to be rounding into form though- better and better. Rust and a really tough hit being left out of WC, just needed a good long run of games. Talent is certainly there. Hopefully they all get rolling!
If you watch them play, it’s clear Turner has improved from his time with the Revs. Zack still looks shaky.
Matt may be rustier than Zack but he’s a better keeper.
And he has very solid World Cup experience which none of the other candidates have.
There are a couple of years left. Does anyone think Turner is going to be overtaken by Zack on the pecking order and do nothing?
turner is the better keeper and signed to a better team where he has played some. he played two weeks ago in europa. if you look at his game logs, it’s not that he sucks, it’s that he doesn’t play, which are two different things. he plays fine when used. QED.
are we really going to pretend top dog changes based on form every week? talent is talent.
steffen hasn’t looked like an elite keeper since he hurt the knee, and steffen on a good day when with city gets treated about like turner does. this is the problem with all the club snob proxy stuff. is the real question is if they were same level same league same team who would start ahead of whom. the proxies are intended to aid in that answer. that’s not much of a real debate. the rest is noise.

Would be so gratifying to see Steffan the man back to center- himself. andof course a great thing for the National team.
