With Arsenal drawing its third-consecutive match over the weekend, the race for the English Premier League title is far from sealed.
Wednesday’s Manchester City – Arsenal showdown pits first vs. second against one another at the Etihad Stadium. Arsenal’s 3-3 draw with last-place Southampton leaves the Gunners in a must-win situation against the defending Premier League champions.
Arsenal has not won at Man City since 2015 losing 3-1 on home soil in its last matchup. Mikel Arteta knows his squad will need to change that recent record if they are to lift the Premier League trophy this May.
The Citizens rolled past Sheffield United 3-0 in their FA Cup semifinal tie on Saturday, thanks to hat trick hero Riyad Mahrez. Pep Guardiola’s side are unbeaten in their last 16 matches across all competitions and are in great form nearing the end of the season.
In Italy, Inter Milan hosts bitter rivals Juventus in its Coppa Italia semifinal second leg tie. After an ill mannered first-leg, both clubs will miss key players due to suspensions. A late penalty kick from Romelu Lukaku tied the match with the last kick of the game sending both sides into chaotic scenes, where Juan Cuadrado, Lukaku and Samir Handanovic all received red cards.
The CONCACAF Champions League resumes with the Philadelphia Union hosting LAFC in their semifinal first leg tie from Chester. Jim Curtin’s squad welcomes the defending MLS Cup winners to town in the first head-to-head showdown since LAFC defeated the Union last November.
On the other side of the bracket, Liga MX sides Tigres and Club Leon square on Tuesday night.
