The 2022 Golden Boy Award field was announced this week with only one U.S. men’s national team player named to the prestigious list.
Wolfsburg and USMNT prospect Kevin Paredes was named to the 100-player list, Tuttosport announced Wednesday. The former DC United homegrown made the move to the Bundesliga club in 2021 and enjoyed a positive sophomore campaign.
Paredes, 20, scored one goal and added three assists in 24 combined appearances for Wolfsburg this past season. He featured in Bundesliga and DFB Pokal play, registering 525 minutes of action.
Paredes also featured for the U.S. Under-20 men’s national team at the recent U-20 World Cup. He’s made eight combined appearances for Mikey Varas’ squad, as well as featured for the Under-16’s in the past.
Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz, and Rico Lewis are among the standout European stars named to the current list. Barcelona starlets Gavi and Pedri are recent winners of the award, after being chosen in 2022 and 2021 respectively.
