American fullback Bryan Reynolds is on his way back to Belgium this summer, but this time on a permanent deal.
Westerlo has acquired Reynolds from AS Roma, signing him until June 2027, the club announced Sunday. The 22-year-old made 34 combined appearances for Westerlo last season, totaling one goal and five assists.
AS Roma will reportedly receive a sell-on fee if Westerlo transfers Reynolds to a club in the future.
Reynolds, a former FC Dallas homegrown signing, made the move to AS Roma back in February 2021. However, Reynolds was reduced to just eight senior appearances for the Serie A club, while also spending time at Belgian side Kortrijk on loan.
A Texas native, Reynolds earned four of his seven U.S. men’s national team caps during the recent Concacaf Gold Cup. The USMNT reached the semifinals before suffering elimination at the hands of Panama in a shootout.
Westerlo finished seventh in the Pro League last season before finishing fourth in the UEFA Conference League Playoff group.
