English second-tier side Norwich City continued its unbeaten start across all competitions on Sunday by picking up three points at home against Millwall.
Josh Sargent registered his second goal of the campaign as the Canaries earned a 3-1 victory at Carrow Road. Jonathan Rowe’s opening goal for David Wagner’s men came in the 25th minute before Sargent’s header in the 49th minute extended Norwich City’s lead to 2-0 in the early stages of the second half. Ashley Barnes would add a third and final goal for the Canaries before Millwall pulled a late consolation tally back in stoppage time.
Sargent completed three dribbles, won seven of his nine duels, and registered four shots in total before being substituted off in the 80th minute. Norwich City moved to 2-1-0 in EFL Championship play and will next visit Huddersfield Town on August 26 at the John Smith Stadium.
In Italy, Tim Weah and Weston McKennie enjoyed a winning start to Serie A play. Tanner Tessmann logged 90 minutes in Venezia’s 3-0 league win over Como. Gianluca Busio also started and featured in the match.
Elsewhere in England, Matt Turner earned his first-career English Premier League win. Tim Ream was sent off in Fulham’s shutout loss to Brentford.
In Germany, Joe Scally and John Brooks both went the distance for their respective clubs. Kevin Paredes made his season debut after missing last week’s German Cup involvement for Wolfsburg.
Elsewhere, Gabriel Slonina made three saves to earn his first win with Belgian side Eupen. Christian Cappis returned to action for Danish club Brondby. Ricardo Pepi and Malik Tillman did not feature for PSV. Cameron Carter-Vickers missed Celtic’s League Cup elimination.

This is going to be an interesting season for many of the USMNT Abroad players. We’ve a number of guys teaming at the Club level which will hopefully contribute to extra chemistry at the National Team level.
– Pulisic & Musah together @ AC Milan
– McKennie & Weah together @ Juventus
– Pepi, Tillman & Dest together @ PSV
– Ream & Jedi @ Fullham
Almost all the players we were screaming to get a trade/new start have achieved moves now that Adams & Dest have found landing spots. The last we’re waiting on is Balogun….but that was always likely to drag out once Arsenal put a $50M price tag on him.
Yes there are still some we’d like to see move, or some that have moved to inferior leagues….but in general things have started well.
I’m hoping everyone gets healthy and has a good season.
Pulisic with a great goal! Did a one-two with Giroud and sent a rocket into the back of the net. Also had a “hockey assist” type pass lofting the ball into play.
I sure hope Sargent continues to score. Puuki (sp) had made a career being the main striker for the Canaries. Now that he is in the MLS, it would be great to see Sargent fill that role and score on a regular basis. I don’t think anyone complains about Sargent’s work rate, just whether he is scoring goals.
Sargent starting off in hot form. Making a strong case to be that 3rd striker. But yet again looks much better in a two striker system.
Should be interesting to see what players get called up in September.
