Newcastle United – Manchester City headlines This Week’s Soccer on TV

The EFL Cup third round takes place this week with two of the Premier League’s dynamic attacks going head-to-head.

Manchester City visits Newcastle United on Wednesday, seeking to extend its unbeaten run to eight matches in all competitions. Pep Guardiola’s side defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Saturday with Erling Haaland scoring his eighth league goal of the new campaign.

Despite a slow start in league play, the Magpies are finding form of late after scoring eight goals in Sunday’s 8-0 triumph over Sheffield United. Eight different players found the back of the net for Eddie Howe’s men, who will try to exact revenge against the Citizens at St. James Park.

EFL Cup action continues when Brighton & Hove Albion visits Stamford Bridge in hopes of advancing over struggling Chelsea. The Seagulls rolled past Bournemouth 3-1 on Sunday while Chelsea suffered a disappointing 1-0 home loss to Aston Villa.

The U.S. Open Cup Final also takes place Wednesday evening when Inter Miami welcomes the Houston Dynamo to DRV PNK Stadium for a second chance of silverware. Inter Miami will seek to capture its second trophy of 2023 while the Dynamo are seeking a second USOC triumph in club history.

The EFL Cup also brings us another All-Premier League clash with Manchester United hosting Crystal Palace on Tuesday. The Red Devils grinded out 1-0 road victory over Burnley on Saturday while the Eagles tied Fulham 0-0 at home.
