Antonee Robinson, Fulham reach League Cup semifinals for first time

For the first time in its history, Fulham will be a part of the League Cup semifinals.

Antonee Robinson logged 90 minutes as Marco Silva’s side outlasted Everton 7-6 on penalty kicks to book their place in the final four of the EFL Cup. The U.S. men’s national team left back started and played a key role for the Cottagers, setting up Fulham’s opening goal before scoring from the spot in the shootout.

Robinson’s cross in the 41st minute deflected off of Everton defender Michael Keane and into the back of the net for a 1-0 Fulham lead. It was the latest impactful moment for Robinson, who has been stellar this fall for Fulham.

However, Everton would tie things up with eight minutes to play as substitute forward Beto equalized with his third goal for the Toffees.

Bobby Reid and Amadou Onana both were denied on their spot kick opportunities before the next five players all scored. Robinson’s cool and composed finish made it 6-6 before Idrissa Gueye was also denied by Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Tosin Adarabioyo stepped up and slotted home Fulham’s clinching shot for a 7-6 win and a spot in the final four of the competition.

Robinson led all players with four tackles completed and two dribbles completed, to go along with eight of 11 duels won and eight clearances.

Fulham is joined by London rivals Chelsea and EFL Championship side Middlesbrough so far in the semifinals. Liverpool hosts West Ham United on Wednesday in the final match of the semifinal round.
