Christian Pulisic shines as AC Milan advances to Europa League quarterfinals

Christian Pulisic is hitting form at the right time, which is crucial not only for AC Milan but also for the U.S. men’s national team.

Pulisic extended his current goalscoring run to three matches on Thursday as AC Milan advanced into the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals. The USMNT star scored once and assisted once as the Rossoneri defeated Slavia Prague 3-1 to advance 7-3 on aggregate.

Pulisic propelled AC Milan into a 1-0 lead after 33 minutes, cutting onto his left foot before drilling a low shot into the bottom-left corner. Rafael Leao assisted on the play, passing across the Slavia Prague box to a wide open Pulisic.

After watching Ruben Loftus-Cheek double AC Milan’s lead three minutes later, Pulisic played distributor on the Rossoneri’s final goal of the match. His cross field pass allowed Leao to curl a deadly strike into the top-right corner for a 3-0 Rossoneri advantage.

Pulisic watched the final 25+ minutes from the sidelines after being replaced in the 63rd minute. The 25-year-old now has 19 goal contributions across all competitions this season and 100 for his senior European career.

AC Milan will learn its foe for the quarterfinals on Friday, which could be Benfica, Marseille, West Ham, among others.

The Rossoneri’s final Serie A match before the March international break will come on Sunday at Hellas Verona. Pulisic will then join up with the USMNT for CONCACAF Nations League action vs. Jamaica.
