Ricardo Pepi delivers stoppage-time winner for PSV

PSV retained its 10-point lead at the top of the Eredivisie table thanks to Ricardo Pepi’s stoppage-time heroics on Sunday.

Pepi came off the bench and scored the winning goal for PSV in a 1-0 home triumph over FC Twente. Fellow U.S. men’s national team attacker Malik Tillman was credited with the assist on the goal while Sergino Dest logged 90 minutes at left back.

With PSV fighting for a winning goal at the Philips Stadion, Tillman connected with Pepi for the breakthrough moment. Pepi’s low left-footed shot nestled into the bottom-left corner for his ninth goal of the season across all competitions.

It marked Pepi’s first goal since Feb. 24 and his third overall of 2024.

PSV hung on to move to 23-3-0 in Eredivisie play, sitting 10 points clear of second place Feyenoord.

Pepi, Tillman, and Dest will now head back to the United States for international duty with the USMNT. Gregg Berhalter’s squad hosts Jamaica in CONCACAF Nations League semifinal action on Thursday.

  1. It would be cool to see those three together next year for PSV. Hope Pepi continues to show he deserves more time on the pitch. 9 goals in all comps for Pepi this season in a limited role. Pretty good first year so far for PSV.

    • It was also good seeing Ritchie Ledesma on the bench and celebrating with Pepi after he scored. If Ledesma can get back on that trajectory he was on before his injury kept him from the game for over a year, things could get real interesting at PSV…..I’d even argue that Ledesma is better than “Chucky” Lozano, who if I’m being honest has been really poor every game I’ve watched of PSV, he’s selfish and just lacking end product for me

      • Ronniet: I love me some Richie Ledezma. But come on Richie had 0g 4a in 27 matches for NYCFC. Chucky has 5g 3a. He had an injury in December and hasn’t scored with only 1a since Nov 11, but come on… Lozano is a club legend had 2 17g seasons before he went to Napoli so he’s going to get plenty of opportunities.
