Americans Abroad Weekend Rewind: Polvara, Pulisic, and more

Aberdeen’s winning run to end the Scottish Premiership season continued Sunday with Dante Polvara scoring his first goal since October in the process.

Polvara scored the second goal for Aberdeen at Easter Road on Sunday in an eventual 4-0 triumph over Hibernian. The American midfielder played 67 minutes in the match, winning three duels, making five recoveries, and completing one dribble.

Polvara has featured more regularly this spring for Aberdeen, helping the club register three-straight victories. A strong ending to the season could be crucial for Polvara’s long-term role at the club as Aberdeen aims for trophies next fall.

In England, Tyler Adams made his return for AFC Bournemouth. Antonee Robinson and Fulham suffered a lopsided loss to Manchester City.

In Italy, Christian Pulisic scored twice in AC Milan’s demolition of Cagliari.

In Germany, Joe Scally registered one assist in Borussia Moenchengladbach’s draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. Brenden Aaronson and Union Berlin lost on the road at Cologne.

Elsewhere, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Celtic are on the verge of clinching the Scottish Premiership title. Mark McKenzie and Genk lost on the road at Anderlecht. Jonathan Amon assisted once in Lyngby’s road win. Gabriel Slonina posted a seven-save clean sheet in Eupen’s victory.

Comments

  1. Brazil has released a 23 man roster (no Gabriel Jesus, Casemiro, or Richarlison). Mexico has released 31 for June friendlies while indicating the Copa roster will be from that list (no Ochoa, Chucky, Jimenez, or Martin). Crickets from US Soccer. I understand those two don’t have 2 rosters to fill this summer but why not at least release the provisional with the 50 possible players.

  2. PSV Officially Decides Not to Pick Up Dest’s Option, But Hopes to Keep Him on the Team……because Barcelona is asking for too much at only 10 million?? Haha, I think PSV has made in known to Dest that they really want him but that he should just wait out his contract with Barca. They are really hopeful about him, but they have informed Barça that they will not be buying him for 10 million. The crazy twist is that he won’t be back on the field until early 2025, which is when his contract with Barça ends…..lol

    • They do not want to pay 10 mil for a guy coming off a serious knee injury. They plan to talk with Barca for a reduced fee considering these circumstances. Since Barca has no desire to keep Dest, I am sure they will work out something to sell for a smaller fee.
