AS Monaco enjoyed victory in its opening Ligue 1 match last weekend, but should receive a tougher test on Saturday in Lyon.

Folarin Balogun will seek his second-straight start for Monaco in this weekend’s trip to the Groupama Stadium. Balogun registered one shot on target in his 69-minute shift in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Saint-Etienne. The U.S. men’s national team forward scored eight goals in 33 combined appearances for Monaco last season, enduring an up-and-down campaign overall.

Balogun will be amongst Monaco top attacking options once again this season as Adolf Hutter’s squad aims to be in the mix for the Ligue 1 title. A strong start this summer could provide Balogun with needed confidence ahead of potential USMNT duty this September and October.

In Germany, Joe Scally and Borussia Moenchengladbach host Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga’s opening match.
