Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Scally faces Pefok, and more

Sixth visits 14th this weekend in the German Bundesliga as Joe Scally and Jordan Pefok square off for the first time this season.

Scally and Borussia Moenchengladbach host Pefok and Union Berlin on Saturday with both teams still in the early stages of the new campaign. The 21-year-old Scally has featured in all four league matches to date, continuing to be an important player for the club. After a positive international window last summer, Scally will try and get Gladbach back into the European places by season’s end.

Pefok, who spent last season on loan at Gladbach, is back with Union Berlin this year. The 28-year-old has registered one assist in four league outings, but is still seeking his first goal since returning. A veteran forward, Pefok brings a physical presence in the final third and looks to have earned the trust of manager Bo Svensson.

In Italy, Christian Pulisic and AC Milan host Lecce in Serie A play.

  1. Napoli showed Palmero that you can’t half a$$ a line-up and hope it will stick.
You bring in a substitute goal keeper against Napoli, you change the normal formation of 4-3-2-1 / 4-2-3-1, did not start Claudio Gomes, Thomas Henry and Roberto Insigne, had Kristoffer Lund playing LM/LW…….and the result was 3 goals in the first half before the Palmero red card

    Reply
    • Palermo knows they had no shot at Coppa Italia, try some lineup adjustments, rest some players get ready for Serie B, promotion is their goal not Cup glory.
