The U.S. women’s national team are back in action later this month and Emma Hayes revealed her 26-player roster for the upcoming matches.
Alyssa Thompson, Rose Lavelle, and Olivia Moultrie headlined Hayes’ roster for a pair of matches against Iceland before a final October friendly vs. Argentina. The Americans will host Iceland on Oct. 24 and Oct. 27 in Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee respectively before facing Argentina in Louisville, Kentucky on Oct. 30.
A total of 23 players will dress for the matches.
“There’s no doubt that the summer was brilliant, and we want to make these three games about celebrating some amazing accomplishments and players, but at the same time, we can’t rest on any laurels,” said Hayes, “Our focus is forward, our focus is on our process, and we want to keep chasing new heights. I love that we get to see most of our Olympic Team again after a few months, but I also love getting to work with some newer players and evaluate how they perform in our environment.
“Every 90 minutes of an international match is full of learning, for me and the players, and we’re looking forward to three great games for our fans to end our home schedule before we go to Europe in November,” she added.
A total of 18 players from last summer’s Gold Medal-winning roster were selected including Sophia Smith, Mallory Swanson, and Alyssa Naeher.
Six uncapped players were also selected in October’s roster including midfielder Hal Hershfelt and defender Emily Sams. Eva Gaetino, Alyssa Malonson, Yazmeen Ryan and Emma Sears round out the players seeking their first senior caps.
These will be the final home matches of 2024 for the USWNT before they travel abroad for their final overall fixtures in November and December. The USWNT will visit England at Wembley Stadium on Nov. 30 before closing out their 2024 schedule against the Netherlands on Dec. 3.

speed and quickness upgrade at the 6
love Coffey, love Horan, but both in there together is dangerous. Hrubesch solved it with Brand inside running straight at them both. then Brazil copied. we won gold but that specie thing, I’d bet, is what she’s looking to address. remember at one point Hayes moved Horan to the 9 it got so sketchy. Albert is definitely one answer.
Bravo ro Hayes for bringing in lots of central defenders. We absolutely need to find a partner for Girma and a replacement in the event that the ACL fairy comes for her like so many others
Emma Hayes is awesome. Hitting a home run with this list. I’m looking at this as the true beginning of the Emma Hayes era. Time for her to evaluate the pool and impress more of her complete philosophy on the team. Three games in a week will let her rotate and assess quite a bit. I’m assuming, as well as the team did winning the Gold, Hayes was probably limited in what she could do with fully implementing her system and mining the player pool in the time leading up to the Olympics. Now she has no major tournament looming. She will get to check out all the tools in the toolbox and see exactly what type of projects she actually produce with them.
I hope this is not a sign that Lily Yohannes is leaning Dutch…..and, it’s really a shame Croix Bethune got injured, I would love to have seen her pulling the strings in midfield this camp
Good call on Yohannes…that is an interesting omission
Yohannes shouldn’t be called up until she commits to the USA. There are plenty of talented players that bleed red, white and blue that we don’t need to seduce people overseas.
If Yohannes is the type of player that wants to compete with the best players in the world to earn a spot on the best team in the world then she should declare for the USA and take her chances. If not then perhaps she she should stay where she is.
