Brenden Aaronson didn’t let being left off of the March U.S. men’s national team roster derail him from delivering a strong performance in Leeds United’s midweek victory.
Aaronson logged a strong 90 minutes as Daniel Farke’s men defeated visiting Millwall 2-0 at Elland Road. The result moved the Lilywhites back to first place in the EFL Championship with nine matches to go.
Jake Cooper’s early own goal paired with Ao Tanaka’s insurance goal with five minutes to play helped Leeds United move four points clear to third-place Burnley for automatic promotion. Aaronson led all players in chances created (3) and fouls drawn (3) while also winning nine duels.
The veteran midfielder has gone eight matches without a goal or assist, but remains a very important players for Leeds United.
Aaronson and his Leeds teammates will now prepare for a trip to QPR on Saturday.
In Champions League play, Gio Reyna and Borussia Dortmund advanced while Richie Ledezma and PSV suffered elimination.
In England, Aidan Morris and Middlesbrough continued their quest towards being in the promotion playoffs. Caleb Wiley helped Watford close out a home victory over Swansea City.

If no Cardoso due to injury, we call one of the Aaronson brothers, A Morris, or Busio?
Yeah, those would seem the likely suspects. Busio been moved to the bench of late 107 minutes total last four matches. Brenden had a bounce back game against Millwall this week, but had a poor February. He’s got the most experience, but also not a natural 6/8 combo so not like for like for Johnny. Morris has the most similar club role, but also the least talented of those you named. Paxten has been quiet of late, but has had a good season. I could also see them bringing Eneli.
Could also add Zendajas since Poch said Musah is a midfielder not a forward. Basically don’t pay attention to the press release positions they don’t mean anything.
Yeah I thought that was weird they had Musah as a forward. I did like those nice rocket shots he tried in UCL, one bounced off post. Zendejas I forgot too.
Of course Poch danced around every question with coach speak and cliches so it also won’t surprise me if Yunus starts at RW.
