Tyler Adams and Bournemouth started strong against Manchester City on Sunday but eventually saw their FA Cup dreams come crashing down.
Adams played the full 90 minutes in Andoni Iraola’s squad but the Cherries suffered FA Cup quarterfinal elimination after losing 2-1 to the Citizens. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder conceded a first half penalty kick after a handball in the box, but fortunately for Adams, Kepa Arrizabalaga came to his rescue.
Kepa dove to his left to deny Erling Haaland from the spot, keeping the two teams level.
Bournemouth struck first in the 21st minute as Evanilson bundled home a loose ball in the box for a 1-0 Cherries lead.
However, the visiting Citizens would rally in the second half to flip the tie in their favor. Haaland finished off Nico O’Reilly’s assist in the 49th minute to tie the match before Omar Marmoush delivered the go-ahead goal 14 minutes later.
O’Reilly had a hand in both of Man City’s goals.
Bournemouth could not find an equalizing goal, dropping out of the competition in the final eight.
The Cherries will resume Premier League play on Wednesday against Ipswich Town, remaining very much alive for a top-six finish.

BBBBrrruuuuhhh………..Tyler Adams was a beast today especially in the first half…..and his wheels are back.
He was everywhere, and I think he took the “playing nasty” comment literally as any collusion he was involved in “bodies flew”…..and he was aggressive. So much so he got a penalty call against him (hand ball that was saved by the keeper)……a back pass / tackle that gave Haaland a clear one-on-one with the keeper (in which he missed) and multiple fouls (either the man got through or the ball got though BUT NOT BOTH!!!).
Absolutely physical…….but I hope he avoids too much of the physically and say health for the WC. Like Jedi we absolutely need him!!!!!!
**physicality and stay healthy**
The headline made me think that Bournemouth were routed, but losing 2-1 to Man City is nothing to be ashamed of.
