The Spanish First Division title race has two weeks to go, but this week very likely offers Real Madrid's last chance to catch FC Barcelona.
Barcelona leads Real Madrid by a point, and with the defending champions ending their season against relegation-bound Valladolid, today's match at Sevilla could offer the last chance for Real Madrid to catch up. Real Madrid has to take care of its own business by beating a tough Athletic Bilbao side.
Today also features the Mexican League playoffs, with Pachuca facing Monterrey on the road with a chance to advance to the playoff tournament semifinal.

Lets hope that the spanish minnows have more pride than the english ones who folded 4-0, 4-0, and 8-0 in the final week.
It wasnt an embarassment like the Inter-Lazio game but then again, the italian league is a constant embarassement from the offices all the way down to the diving vaginas.
All I want is competitive games. The EPL failed to do that in the last week, let’s hope the spanish league succeeds.
Bittersweet…Torres getting the assist is nice, but adios to my Rayados…
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL DEL PACHUCA. Nice assist by Gringo Torres for the match winning goal, and to assure the aggregate victory.
The Mexican league playoff are a little soft this year. Particularly, Guadalajara. You can’t win when five of your players are gone filling stadiums in the US. I’m hoping Pachuca (Torrez) moves on past Monterrey. They’re out if the overall score is a tie.
ya i agree, i think it’s fair to say that (as much as we all love charlie and his optimism) the several reports out of the club saying he would not play this year are accurate. who knows, maybe he’ll get in next week but it looks very unlikely at this point
touche deja vu
Just saw Charlie tweet “Watching my club FC Sochaux vs Bordeaux. Man do I wish I was out there! Last week of the season coming up! The hard work will never stop!!!”
Kind of makes me wonder if he’s getting annoyed that he’s not being played yet. To be fair to Sochaux, I can understand why they would just want to just wait until next season to play him.
But I can’t wait to see Charlie Davies play against Czech! (I hope)
Messi hasn’t scored in the past 40 minutes and missed a deflection from 8 yards out. In the spirit of turning a misused phrase into a worn useless cliche, I say Messi ‘has disappeared for long stretches of the game’.
But the beauty is the fact that Telefutura is now in HD…
I don’t see Ibra in the line-up. Will Barca discard the giant forward who hates to go into the 18?
This discussion is not as lively as usual. Perhaps I will move over to the “Hanover Avoids Relegation” thread . . . .
What’s up with Boca? Injury? This is his second time left off the game-day roster.
damn no charlie today
It looks like he’s in the 23 — that’s def good news but doesn’t mean he’s making thebench, much less starting.
Gooch is going to be in the lineup for Milan tomorrow:

I cant believe ESPN or FSC didn’t pick up the Sounders-Galaxy game today. Should be a ratings winner. Anyway, 1-1 draw with Zakuani and Donovan each netting a goal, you heard it here first.
Yeah, now that European leagues are coming to a close, it’s gonna be a pretty boring couple of weeks.
in other words, I doubt they’d mind signing a big defender coming off an injury, especially if he has a good world cup. I really wanted him to go there before Milan even signed him. I never thought he’d get any time. The only positive is that if he stays Milan might keep him playing until the 2018 world cup.
I say he should go to Tottenham. They seem to enjoy buying defenders that can’t string 4 games together. Gooch’s injury is definately not as bad. He’ll always get games, in the champion’s league too. They’re a physically big squad, except Modric. He can fit in well. He’s been in the prem before with Newcastle, so I think Gooch would enjoy the chance to do better(It didn’t help that he was in the middle with Titus Shambles)
The injury was to the Hannover Keeper. But maybe it means the Hannover fans want Dolo to stay or they’re saying goodbye. His contract is up.
he was at a store promoting the new F50’s.
Training isn’t what Jozy thinks about, according to yesterday’s story
What do you suppose that means?
This has been a boring day so far. Nice to see our boys in the Bundesliga all playing. Excited to watch the Real and Barca games though.
NY? Any chance he’s thought about training with the Red Bulls? Similar to Gomez with Chivas.
Thanks for clearing that one up for me!
if frankfurt defence is really that bad right now, they should bring in gooch…. I think it would be a great place for him
He’s in the US right now. He signed with Hull until the end of the season, got sent off, and can’t go back to Spain yey. He’s in the US until the prem’s over and will probably start the camp. He was in NY a couple of days ago.
Good for Hannover.
I know this has nothing to do with today’s post but is Jozy still at Hull, or has he been sent back to Villarreal?
Hannover wins 3-0, avoids regulation. M’Gladbach ties Bayer 1-1. Frankfurt loses 3-1
Wolfsburg wins 3-1 over Frankfurt and Clark.
frankfurt have a goal. Altintop
Halil Altintop scores for Frankfurt. 3-1 Wolfsburg….Clark is getting forward quite a bit and has a couple of good chances that, as he settles in with Frankfurt, will probably do better with….
Anymore updates? I am bored and at work 🙂
M’Gladbach has tied it up and the Hannover fans at Bochum started chanting USA, USA during an injury.
Hannover’s up 3-0 at halftime. Steve’s playing pretty good.
Clark is playing in the middle as a defensive mid. However, he and the other center mid are getting caught out from time to time. Clark had a great chance from the top of the box, but hit his shot wide….
Frankfurt’s defense has been swiss cheese.
Hannover up 2-0, Gladbach down 1-0. Is Soccernet right saying Clark is playing right-mid? Come on Davies! I hope he can make the bench.
Clark starting for Frankfurt. They’re already down 3-0 to Wolfsburg in the 33rd minute.
I hope fc dallas wins by 3-0 or something so that they are 2nd place in western conference.
