Wednesday night, a rivalry that will soon grace MLS is renewed, as the Portland Timbers are set to host the Seattle Sounders in the Third Round of the U.S. Open Cup.
PGE Park is set to host another Open Cup match between the two sides, with the fierce rivalry set to take center stage once again. The Sounders begin their defense of last year's Open Cup title.
Seven other matches are scheduled for this week, as eight MLS sides enter the tournament proper after a couple rounds of play-in matches have filled out the field. oppps that game is on Wed…
Chivas USA 1
Aztex 0
Good night, now.
Anyone know the Sounders – Timbers result?
Galaxy 2 AC St Louis 0
Galaxy started a makeshift back line. The game was taken too them in the first half but as the second half started the Galaxy put a stop to the madness. Slow paced game all in all.
Harrisburg City Islanders DEFEAT New York Red Bulls 1-0 in overtime. Great job Harrisburg. I was at the game and enjoyed the entertainment. Good luck with the rest of the tourny
Dynamo 1 – Miami 0 – – – – – Lovell Palmer with Houston’s goal, Mulrooney missed PK. Waiting for Chivas/Aztex match for winner.
Down go the Bulls
I hope st louis doesnt get beat to bad against la!!
As a Sounders’ supporter, with the way things are going lately, I’ll be fairly happy if SSFC get out of Portland without having emebarassed the FO into refunding travelling expenses to those making the trip to the game.
I hope you’re right. Go Aztex!
I think the aztex will beat chivas usa.. every other game, an mls team will win.
*chuckles*
kickers over united
Good thing they’re a deep squad then.
You may be able to find some streams like the one from http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-fire-confidential/2010/06/fire-v-charleston—us-open-cup.html …
Can’t make it to the US Open Cup match tonight?
Charlestonbattery.com is providing a live audio stream of the match.
Timbers v. Sounders is going to be intense. Sucks I have to w*rk but with no World Cup matches tomorrow, I might actually have time to sit down and watch this one when I get home.
It’d be nice if these games were streamed online like on mlssoccer.com or the teams websites. Can’t get the LA game here in San Diego
If Houston’s reserve back line was decent at all, they would replace the starting defense easily. Houston is bleeding goals this year 🙁
The winner gets a play-in home and away series for the CCL group stages. The only MLS automatic bids are for the MLS cup winners and for the Supporters Shield.
The dynamo’s reserve team is nothing to laugh at…from what I’ve seen…they are very strong attack wise and midfield wise…defense…not so sure about.
LOVE this tourney. Since FCD is out, I guess I’ll have to pull for the Aztex. Sea v Por looks like the game to watch for the week tho. Mia and Hou also looks pretty intriguing. Hell, looks like good games all around. Kinda rooting for some upsets to mix it up a bit.
The winner of this tourney automatically qualifies for CONCACAF Champions League, right?
Anywhere to watch Aztex vs. Chivas USA?
The Sounder/Timber game is at 7:30PST on Fox Sports NW.
Good to see Dynamo finally get a home game in the U.S. Open Cup. Unfortunately they will surely trot out a predominantly reserve squad, having just played a match on Saturday.
The USOC is a great and fun tournament. It was a blast going to the games in ’06 at Toyota Park. The Fire won so it was all the better. I wish more people came out for these matches but the supporters section was there, in full and ragin’. Wish I could be there again.
The Seattle/Portland game should be good.
Hopefully, the Baby Bulls can bring it home.
Any of these games on tv?!
