Soccer Tuesday: Your Running Commentary

Michael Bradley and Lionel Messi take center stage on Tuesday.

Fresh off his first Serie A goal, Bradley and his Chievo Verona teammates will try to play spoiler for AC Milan, as the Rossoneri have fallen a point behind unbeaten Juventus and need a win to avoid risking an even steeper climb in the race for the Scudetto. Bradley's first season in Italy has been a rousing success, and he could add another chapter to that with a standout showing against the traditional powerhouse.

Messi and Barcelona, meanwhile, will aim to creep within a point of Real Madrid atop the table in La Liga, and they can do so with a home victory over Getafe. A win would put the pressure on Real Madrid to match the three points tomorrow in their battle against Atletico Madrid. Tuesday provides Messi a chance to build on his historic season even more, after he crossed the 60-goal mark over the weekend.

  1. Blackburn ties the game up and is playing 11 on 10. takes the foot of the gas, lets liverpool control some of the possession and ends up losing the match in the last moments. They played for the tie instead of going for the win. BRUTAL

  2. 61 goals, 39 in the league, 25 assists… in 30 league games plus domestic and euro games.

Greatest statistical season in the history of football?

  3. Yeah – cheivo is taking it to milan, but seems they just are not goal scorers. But Bradley is really attacking, and especially dangerous when he follows up the strikers into the box looking for rebounds of pass-backs. Looking more like his dutch days.

  4. Tommy Smyth is ranting about people giving him the business on Twitter. This is more entertaining than the actual match haha

  5. I think messi would only be at 78. Dempsey et al are being scored with league stats only.

Still obscene production. Ronaldo checks in with a mere 64.

  6. Bradley with some good moves down the left following a short corner, followed by a sharp ball into the box, wasted by a teammate.

  7. They used to have the Burger King himself upside down on the inside of their shirt, so they could pull it up over their head for celebrations.

  8. Anyone else think the Burger King logo splashed across Getafe’s kit is just astonishingly ugly? I mean, other teams are more subtle with their kit sponsor… This is just bad.

  9. Messi just notched his 24th assist. And Xavi has a goal taken away by a goal line clearance, but replay shows it was over the line.

  10. Fun open game – Chievo really taking it to milan. MB is pressing forward all the time. At this rate, Chievo should score soon.

  11. Chievo doing well against Milan even at 0-1 down. Muntari’s goal was on a counter against the run of play. MB doing well so far – winning everything he’s touching so far. But his corners and free kick have been less than stellar so far.

  12. Great strike by Muntari for Milan. Chievo never regained their defensive shape after Bradley took a corner from the left, and Milan countered. Bradley RM got stuck on the left after the corner, and the Chievo mid never shifted over to cover.

  13. Goal = 2 / Assist = 1
