Thierry Henry and Alessandro Nesta have done battle on the international stage many times, but they will meet for the first time in MLS play when Henry's New York Red Bulls take on Nesta's Montreal Impact.
Nesta will make his first MLS start for the Impact tonight, and he will be trying to slow down the dangerous forward tandem of Henry and Kenny Cooper. Montreal will be hoping Italian striker Marco DiVaio can match or surpass the output of the Red Bulls strikers.
In other Eastern Conference action, Sporting KC will look to snap their four-match scoreless drought at home against a tough Columbus Crew defense. The Crew are coming off a good 1-0 victory against D.C. United and will be a handful for KC to handle.
In MLS exhibition action, D.C. United is taking on French powerhouse Paris St. Germain in a World Football Challenge friendly.

I was intoxicated when I wrote this; watched the match again this morning and my statement still stands. The 9 minutes of extra time was absurd.
One of those injuries was OFF the field. No time stoppage needed there. If you watched that game and thought there needed to five minutes of stoppage time in the second half, you’re nuts. When the crowd CHEERS at the announcement of stoppage time, something’s off.
There’s NO way that the initial five minutes was justified, but eight? Are you crazy? Find eight minutes in that second half for me. I’ll go ahead and wait.
Except that there were like 3 injuries in that game. You don’t think guy laying on ground injured + ref coming over, talking to him, calling for medical + trainer types walking over, looking at player + player walking off field with assistance takes 2-3 minutes each time? So then wth are you whining about? Keep the conspiracy theory nonsense to yourself.
The fix is in. The KC Crew game had 8 min added at a time when KC was pounding the Crew goal. No luck for the home team on that one though….
MLS officials ruin ANOTHER match.
9 minutes of extra time for the home team because they were getting carded left and right because they were losing?!
5 minutes shown and 9 minutes played because San jose player thugged out a Fire player. And they get to score in the 99th minute. You have to be kidding me.
What a bunch of undeserved crap.
Sean Johnson is having the greatest match by a keeper in MLS history right now.
Once again, Gruenebaum is otherworldly!
I don’t know what happened to the KC strikers, though. How many gimme’s do you need?
Beautiful play by Keane. Coming around to the guy, as an MLSer.
Beautiful strike by Magee to put LA 1-0 up.
This is their first game with the sponsor.
Potential goal of the week/month just happened in the Crew game. That was filthy.
Well played. I laughed.
very
1) You can see with only one eye
2) You don’t need to be able to see to get back on defense.
JK, I didn’t see the play.
Dallas has a shirt sponsor? When did this happen? How late am I?
Who is this mo.ron on NBC Sports?
Benitez needs to fight through being hit in the eye with an elbow? He needs to fight through not being able to see? He can’t go down if he takes an elbow in the eye?
It’s his fault the official didn’t stop play after the Galaxy gained an advantage by hitting him in the eye with an elbow?
Worst anthem ever
Not to pile on the kid, but that was rough business right there. Points for the guts and all, kid, but ouch!!
That national anthem as so brutal. Ears bleeding.
No Brek Shea for Dallas. Not a good sign for him.
Pontius and DeRosario with a beautiful give and go, and Pontius blasts one off the bar from close range.
wtf FSC, way to screw up royally
Tuned in 4 minutes in and PSG already scored… Anyone see how it happened?
Looks like FSC isn’t playing the DCU/PSG game until later today…
