At long last, Jose Torres has his first goal with Tigres UANL.
Torres scored for the first time since joining Tigres in late 2012 in the club’s 3-2 Copa MX loss to Santos Laguna on Tuesday night. The veteran midfielder struck a beauty to spur a comeback attempt for Tigres, collecting a loose ball before dribbling forward and hitting a shot from around the edge of the penalty area into the top corner of the far post in the 41st minute.
Torres’ goal, while coming in a losing effort, will help his case as he looks to earn a call-up to the U.S. Men’s National Team’s final two World Cup qualifiers next month. Torres was with the Americans for this month’s 2-0 qualifying win over Mexico at Crew Stadium, but did not feature in the match.
Here is the goal (at the 1:05 mark):

What do you think of Torres’ goal? Think he should be called in for the U.S. Men’s National Team’s qualifiers next month?

Torres is class. Great vision. Lovely passing.
Wish he’d get more looks for the national team.
Wish he’d get a chance to play deeper and more centrally for us.
Really well struck. I still think the kid is good to keep around for just the right tactical climate. Probably not first XI material in most cases, but he does offer things that few other players in the pool have.
Back flip!
He so sick I want him in the 23
“Un auntetico golazo”
DAYYYYMN! But I was even more impressed with his celebration, nice flip.
Is the “El Gringo” label from the commentator a one off, or is that a common nick name from him down there?
Any mexican american playing there is calles that
It’s common for Americans to be called Gringos in passing, but it’s gone further for JF Torres since he’s been at Pachuca he’s been called El Gringo. USSOCCER’s youtube has an interview with his Pachuca teammates explaining it.
Nice goal El Gringo!
It’s something special to him. Even in Fifa 14 he is labelled Gringo
it is a common nickname for mexican-americans, they are usually called gringos or pochos
Cant even see the goal. The highlight doesn’t really show much
