Following last year’s run to the College Cup final, Georgetown picked up the first of what they hope is five wins as they easily dispatched Old Dominion, 3-0 in the NCAA Tournament’s second round.
The Hoyas needed just 12 minutes to open the scoring as sophomore midfielder Brandon Allen found sophomore Cole Seiler at the far post for a tap-in. Though ODU had their opportunities, the Hoyas piled on in the second half, as freshman Bakie Goodman scored on a counter attack in the 60th minute and with just over three minutes remaining, Allen found freshman stud Alex Muyl in front of goal to put the match away.
Elsewhere in the tournament, UCLA rolled over Elon, 4-0, with a brace from senior Victor Chavez, while Notre Dame easily dispatched Wisconsin, 4-0, behind two goals from senior Harrison Shipp. Maryland defeated Providence, 3-1, and Marquette defeated Akron, 1-0, ending their season.
There were four upsets in the second round, as unseeded UConn, Coastal Carolina, Stanford, and Penn State all took down their ranked foes to move on to the third round on Sunday.

disappointed Louisville made an early exit after a couple seasons of going deep in the tourny
This is just not good enough.
No mention of UC Irvine beating UNC with a goal 2 SECONDS from the final whistle….
Funny.
May be tough traveling to Maryland in the next round, but UCI probably at least deserves a shout-out.
ZOT! ZOT! ZOT!
Hope that the team keep the momentum.
