The stock of one Tesho Akindele is rising — and rising fast.
Akindele has had little difficulty adjusting to Major League Soccer thus far. The sixth pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft has tallied four goals and an assist in 14 appearances for FC Dallas, and Sunday may have been his best performance to date.
The rookie scored the game’s only goal in a 1-0 victory for FC Dallas over Chivas USA. The goal — a work of art in passing between Akindele, Fabian Castillo, and Blas Perez — gave Dallas the early second-half momentum and an inevitable three points towards a tight Western Conference race.
That alone was more than enough for the 22-year-old to earn SBI Rookie of the Week honors. Akindele edged out Toronto FC’s Nick Hagglund for this week’s title.
What did you think of Akindele’s performance? Can the FC Dallas rookie give Harrison Shipp a run for the MLS Rookie of the Year award?

Blas Perez, Fabian Castillo and Tesho Akindele make for a pretty potent attack. They all create chances, and at least 2 of those guys can finish.
Not Castillo. =(
Bingo! I’ll take his pace though. And he has improved his soccer IQ and tactical understanding.
He is a lot better than last year. That much is for sure.
He makes the right passes now but his choices regarding shooting are still wierd.
