Fabian Johnson and Borussia Monchengladbach return for a crucial UEFA Champions League playoff, while the English League Cup could see the club debut of a young American midfielder.
After sealing a 3-1 advantage in the opening leg, Monchengladbach faces off with Young Boys in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League playoff. Johnson won’t be the only American facing continental competition, though, as Omar Salgado, Jose Torres and Tigres UANL take on Plaza Amador on Wednesday night in CONCACAF Champions League play.
In England, Emerson Hyndman could be in line for his Bournemouth debut on Wednesday against Morcambe. The midfielder has been out of action due to an ankle injury and has missed the club’s first two games of the Premier League season. However, manager Eddie Howe says that he expects Hyndman to be “a very exciting player” for the club as he reaches full fitness.
Elsewhere, Tim Ream could face off with Brad Guzan as Fulham takes on Middlesbrough, while Jorge Villafana and Ventura Alvarado could each feature in Copa MX action.

Emerson is in for garbage time!
Not sure I would refer to extra time as “garbage time” 🙂
Bournemouth didn’t play extra time, he came on in stoppage time in the 92nd minute.
Gooch, Guzan, and Johnston with starts, while Hyndman is on the bench today. It looks like a good day for Americans.
Apparently we were typing at the same time.
Gooch, Guzan, Ream, FJ all starting (Ream listed as a CB not sure if its correct) Hyndman makes his first bench appearance and De La Torre also on the bench for Fulham.
De La Torre is during extra time!
Is Salgado still with Tigres? I thought he had changed his stripes, so to speak, with a loan deal to Jaguares in Colombia.
Hasn’t suited up anywhere since April according to Soccerway, his last twitter post at the end of July was cheering on Tigres take those two pieces of info for what they are worth its the only “news” I could find.
