As players all over the world rejoined their clubs following the international break, four Americans sealed big returns with goal-scoring performances.
In the Bundesliga, both Aron Johannsson and Bobby Wood found the back of the net in losses. Johannsson’s tally came from the penalty spot, although it wasn’t enough to overcome Augsburg in a 2-1 loss. Wood fired Hamburg’s lone finish in a 3-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen.
Danny Williams and DeAndre Yedlin fired goals of their own in English League Championship play. Williams stepped up and buried a 95th-minute penalty to seal a win over Ipswich Town. Yedlin’s finish was also a late one, sealing a 2-0 win over Derby County.
Elsewhere, Josh Gatt made his long-awaited return to the field for Molde following several injury-plagued seasons. The winger entered as a 67th minute substitute in Molde’s 0-0 draw with Haugesund.

Andrija Novakovic needs a move asap. Every week he is not even dressing, if he is with the reserves, keep him off this list. It makes no sense.
A lot of those did not dress guys are reserves or just dress in cup games. I’m sure they’ll weed them out as the year goes on. Of course someone might have said why is Gooch on the list he’s never played for Sunderland and then he’s started 5 games in a row.
Novakovic did get a goal for the reserves yesterday.
Gooch may be starting for Sunderland but he hasn’t done much of anything with his time on the field. I’d slow your role on wanting to start him in such an important role for USMNT. In qualifier no less.
Sunderland is so bad its hard to tell if he’s any good or not. Gooch was the internet sensation a few years ago and then kind of went away with some injuries and a trip to League 1, so I think people are just excited to see him or really anyone starting in an offensive role in EPL.
Gooch starting today for Sunderland as the central attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1. Would love to see him get a shot at the October friendlies. I really believe that we could have a dangerous and dynamic team if things continue to develop the way things have been going…..

We still need some help with the quality of our depth options (especially at fullback), but there are signs that we’ll have a very strong starting XI in the not to distant future.
Gary Page: Haji Wright scored a goal for Schalke U19 in 2-0 victory over B.Mochengladbach. Weston Mckinnie is also now playing for Schalke who is in first place in the West Division of Junior A Bundesliga.
What’s going on with Jack McBean?
Started for Coventry’s U23 squad in a 7-2 loss to Charlton Althletic U23. According to Coventry City websites he was brought in as a developmental player with no plans to bring him to the main club anytime soon.
Really? Why the interest in a player who isn’t even with the 1st team of a club currently in the 3rd tier of the English League? I just can’t understand peoples desire to follow the happenings of someone at that level of play.
Because it is constantly commented on here that League 1 is worse than MLS so people (usually Galaxy fans) assumed McBean would just walk right in to a starting spot or at least first team playing time. Similarly after Pulisic’s quick rise from U19s to first team action when Haji scored 3 goals in 4 games last year I think people thought he might get at least some preseason minutes with the first team.
Nick just read McBean had a brace yesterday for the reserve side in a 5-1 win over Sheff.United U23s. Apparently, a lot of offense in the English U23 league last week 7-2 loss this week 5-1 win.
Born Johnson at Hearts?
If there was ever a time to Dortmund could’ve use Pulisic’s spark off of the bench, it was Saturday. They had no life going forward and that is his specialty. Getting in against tired legs and adding some life to the attack. I really feel Tuchel missed the ball on that one because they were abysmal on the attacking half of the pitch.
Gotze and Schurrle both look like they are not all that interested in being top players anymore. Gotze has never been a physical specimen, but he looks like his fitness might be questionable. After that match Saturday you have to question if BvB is having trouble meshing the old with the new.
What about CCV dressing but not playing for Tottenham, he’s probably closer to playing then Zelalem
He’s been on the bench for all there games so far I believe, I think he’ll be first CB off the bench if something happens. Excited to see him get some playing time this season.

JOSH GATT RETURNED. That should have been stressed way more.
Even more of a milestone if the fact that Queretaro was admitted to the English Championship. Way to goy Bornstein!!
hahaha noticed that and wanted to say something
that’s is going to be a lot of travel!
i’m just so happy for Gatt, Johannsson as well as to see Bobby Wood adapting so well. Concerned about Guzan – if he doesn’t win that starting spot in the next month, Tim Howard should be the starter vs. Mexico and at Costa Rica.
Not only was Kiesewetter cloned, but the coach put both in at the same time as a double switch. That has to be some kind of milestone.
:/ Dressed, did not play. Did not dress…Way too many of those on this thing.
Almost all of those did not dress are guys who are injured, guys on the reserve or youth teams, or guys who made the trip from US due to international play. This early in the season some teams chose to rest them. Zelalem played for Aresenal’s U23 and Miazga played for Vitesse’s reserve side on Saturday to help acclimate him to the club.
US Internationals on the U20 WC team that are currently in MLS
Bradford Jamison LAG, did not dress
Connor Donovan OCFC, did not dress
Zack Steffan Col., did not dress
Tommy Thompson SJ, dressed but did not play
Jordan Allen RSL, started subbed off at half
Marco Delgado subbed off after 77 minutes
Kellyn Accosta FCD, played 90 minutes
Correction US National team players not “internationals”
