TFC announce Tebily signing

Toronto FC officially announced the signing of Ivory Coast defender and EPL veteran Olivier Tebily on Thursday. As SBI told you last week, TFC made Tebily the latest addition in a recent spree of signings that included Amado Guevara, Laurent Robert and Rohan Ricketts.

Tebily, 32, spent six years with Birmingham City of the English Premier League after having previously played for Scottish giant Celtic and Sheffield United.

  1. Joe, with the salary cap so low, a weak dollar and a small senior roster size, MLS GM’s have to be creative and resourceful to acquire talent.

    These look like good moves for Toronto and San Jose.

  2. It’s good to see that teams are signing good foreign players that aren’t necessarily DP players.

    This is also one of the way for the league to grow.

  3. Quakes Announce

    SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the team has acquired forward Peguero Jean Philippe on loan for the remainder of the season from Danish club Brondby IF. The move is pending the receipt of his ITC. Per team and league policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

    “Jean Philippe is a proven goal scorer in our league and we expect him to bolster our attack,” stated John Doyle, Earthquakes General Manager of Soccer Operations. “He provides a strong presence in the air and he has the ability to break down defenders so we are excited to add him to our team.”
