Gold Cup Rewind: Costa Rica stunned, Canada wins

New Toronto FC signing Ali Gerba helped the Canadian national team kick off the Gold Cup with a 1-0 victory against Jamaica on Friday night in the tournament's first match.

Canada is joined atop Group A by El Salvador, which used a late goal from Osael Romero to knock off Costa Rica, 2-1, in the nightcap at Home Depot Center.

El Salvador faces Canada on Tuesday night at Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio with the winner guaranteed a place in the quarterfinals. Jamaica faces Costa Rica in the first match on Tuesday night, with the loser in real jeopardy of being eliminated.

Gold Cup action continues tonight with Group B action, as Haiti faces Honduras at Qwest Stadium at 7 p.m., followed by the U.S. national team's opening match of the tournament, against Grenada (9 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel).
