There's plenty of entertaining college soccer action to catch up on this week, with upsets cropping up once again and Akron breaking their own attendance records last night.
Starting out in Ohio, where No. 1 Akron faced their biggest test of the year against No. 15 Ohio State. A record-setting crowd of 2,473 were on hand to watch the Zips record a comprehensive 3-0 win against the Buckeyes Wednesday night.
Akron grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half through a penalty from Blair Gaven would be enough as Akron's defense would limit Ohio State to one shot in the second half. Two more goals were added as the home side kept their unanimous No. 1 seed intact.
Elsewhere last night No. 23 Brown came from behind twice against No. 16 Boston University to grab a wild 3-3 draw. The Bears first came back from a 2-0 deficit, then after equalizing went down again 3-2, and once again clawed their way back for the tie.
Earlier in the week, No. 2 Maryland was upset by local rivals George Mason 2-0 despite having a man advantage, while other ACC upsets included No. 3 Wake Forest losing to No. 22 Charlotte 3-1 and Boston College lost to Siena 1-0.
What do you think of these college results? Can Akron go undefeated? Can anyone unseat them from the No. 1 spot?
